To enter, participants must first purchase a package of any participating SMART™ by Maison CousinMC product (baguette or Belgian bread) available in participating supermarkets in Canada, between September 28 and Friday October 30, 2009, or until stocks of participating products run out, whichever comes first. The Entrant must keep the UPC code from the product packaging for the right to enter.
No purchase necessary. To enter the Contest without purchase, Entrants must send an original 50-word essay, not reproduced mechanically, explaining why they would like to win $5,000 in gift-certificates courtesy of the "Take the Crusty SMART™ Challenge" Contest and mail it no later than October 30, 2009 (the postmark bearing proof) to: "Take the Crusty SMART™ challenge", P.O. Box 385, Station St-Martin, Laval, Qc, H7V 3P6". If all conditions of these Rules are respected, Contest Organizers will enter him/her into the contest draw. All additional no-purchase Entry Request must be mailed separately.
Wow, rules seems to be strict this time. I wonder if they will enforce it at the end once the winner is chosen.

I finally found the baguette at Sobeys today, and just entered the contest successfully, using Firefox
this is the UPC I used
0 64342 21514 0
on the first page I entered the upc and my email - the next page welcomed me by name, since my email was already registered with them from the contest that ended a few weeks ago - I had to enter my phone number, then complete a short survey, and lastly, a page came up saying I had 1 entry - there was also a 50 cent coupon to print out - a full page coupon. LOL

so I go back to Sobeys today to buy the Belgian loaf and use the 50 cent coupon I got yesterday when I entered the contest, and they refuse it, saying that coupons that have to be sent to Quebec for redemption are good ONLY in Quebec
has anyone heard of that before?
I plan to contact the company, but thought I'd check here as well...

It would seem that way both from the official rules and from our experiences, however when you click the "products" link several other products are displayed as well. I feel like I'm getting mixed messages.

But the rules indicated "....participating SMART™ by Maison CousinMC product (baguette or Belgian bread)...."
and it seems this is a trial run of the products, also in the rules "....between September 28 and Friday October 30, 2009, or until stocks of participating products run out...."
If you look at the page of participating products, the words "Eligible products to the contest" is only under the "Smart by Maison cousin"
