Which brand provides the best cotton washable diaper?

I know most parents these days use disposable diapers by Pampers or Huggies, but anyone here uses cotton washable diapers? Any preferences?

How do you know if certain brands will leak or not?
What about cost comparison between disposable & washable diapers?

Do you have a preference over a prefold or a fitted style diaper?

I have some GMD prefolds and they were awesome, very absorbent and soft. When used under a good cover, I never had to worry about leaks.

I mainly used pockets and all-in-ones though as my hubby found it easier if there were less steps. The ones I tended to use were not lined in cotton though, mainly fleece and microsuede.

Finally! I thought no mothers on RFD use washable diapers!
GMD you mean Green Mountain, right?
I think I prefer fitted style. I am not sure I can handle prefolds.

My knowledge of these terms - "pockets" & "all-in-ones" is little. Not sure what they refer to.

Fleece & microsuede liners absorb as good or better than cotton? How do they look after multiple wash?

Would you still prefer washable diapers over disposable aside from trying to "go green"?
