The preschool my children attend require slippers with a rubber sole for when the kids are indoors. I have now searched everywhere I know, and have been unable to find any slippers and am hoping to get some other ideas! I have been to kiddie cobler, panda, shoe company, and brown shoes. What other children's shoe places are there?
Some more background: I do know that places such as Walmart have them, but they are not well made and fall apart easily with such extensive wear. Even the foamtreads only last about a month (and $30/month x2 kids is too rich for me!) I did switch to the Robeez Tredz but the kids are now just outgrowing them and they do not have any larger sizes. I did love them as they were leather so their feet didn't sweat and cause blisters and cracked toes - and they lasted.
I am getting so frustrated I am willing to travel all over the city, or order from the US. (And considering changing schools over this impossible rule!!!)

last resort...market village...store by the food court

Also you can try asking other parents or the teacher for some help.

When my DD was 1'ish and it was winter time my MIL wanted to buy her slippers and likes buying at this store (quality is good and stuff is made in Italy). it is a little expensive. now their regular shoes are $80 (all of them), but the slippers were cheaper. i can't remember but i'm thinking $40'ish (i really don't remember and i know it's expensive) but the quality is good.
i just looked them up...

you can always call them and ask if they carry 'indoor slippers' and see what the prices are like.
good luck and let us know what happens.

Check out www.tinysoles.com. They're based in the US but offer free shipping to US and Canada for orders over $20. They have an extensive selection and prices seem reasonable (not cheap, but you pay for good quality shoes). They carry well known brands. I've never ordered from them before, but based on what I've read, they have excellent customer service. Sign up for their mailing list to be emailed about coupons, special offers, etc. Or check google for any promo codes (usually 10-20% off $30 or more).

crocs and the look alike? you might have a tough time looking for one now since stores have their winter shoes out.

We always just got shoes at kiddie cobler....never had a problem. Looked for shoes that had Velcro vs laces.

We had the same issue this summer when my kid was in camp (preschool) whatever you want to call it. Crocs were the best option.

Crocs have zero support and are not good for kids if they are running around during play time indoors.

Bical Gripper Socks are amazing. They are like socks on the top, but have rubber soles and toe caps. I got them online from Baby Steals and were about $12 a pair plus shipping. I just googled it and they sell them at a lot of places.

You can get socks with little grips on the bottom a lot cheaper at Walmart and they do the trick.

The ones are Walmart are not as durable or strong as the Bical ones. I need them to really last though one size of growth.

Thanks so much everyone! I "almost" have "slippers".
Crocs were banned as there were a lot of slips in the classroom. I had tried to go to Naturino in Oakville early last week but they had moved and a trip to Vaughan was a more last resort. So, on to the tinysoles website. They had the pediped flex - and with free shipping to Canada - it seemed ideal. However, after checking the pediped website itself, I was able to find OLLY Shoes in Sherway Gardens who stock them and at least this way we could try them. So, that is where we headed on the weekend and are now just waiting for the right colour/size to come from their other store. It is a terrific shoe with breatheable leather uppers and soft flexible sole. And the sizing/fit seemed very universal and fit both kids perfectly!!!
(As a side note: I also found out about a store in the Milton Mall called This Little Piggy. I didn't end up going there but is at least another source for children's shoes.)
Now lets just hope the school doesn't sqawk too much! I know they said slippers - but they allow the robeex tredz, and these are very similar! And slippers offer no support, make their feet sweat so my children's feet get blistered, and are not made to be durable for every day-all day wear! Not to mention, after running around to so many stores, even taking time off work, just for school footwear, they will have to do!

pedipeds flex are a great show. i've bought a pair for my daughter and they are a good quality shoe. sorry i didn't think to suggest them in my earlier post, i just didn't think of them b/c u said 'slippers'. hopefully the school won't have a problem. i really don't see why they would.
good luck.

Good Luck

And therein lies the problem! The slippers must have a proper sole - not just grips! These kind of slippers are very limited in children's sizes - not to mentionthe other issues I have with slippers in general for all day wear! But thanks for the suggestion...the stock changes all the time and may be worth peeking in from time to time.
And thanks jeepers10 - good to know someone who had them and that they should last! And I was trying to follow the rules exactly and was hoping for a new slipper selection I didn't already know about.... but am much happier with the pedipeds!!! They are a bit more expensive than the foamtread type slippers but if they last more than a month, it is definitely worth the extra money! Not to mention better they are way better for their feet!

You can probably find something on Etsy.com
I recently ordered these ones: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=20318532
but I'm sure if you are looking for something else a quick search should bring something up.
