Hello Again!
Yesterday in the Source City store I saw Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 digital camera for $279.96 under clearance items ( it is not in the flyer ).
This camera is still 399.99 at other stores, the 2nd best price $ 368.00 is at the Visions. I know it is not the DMC-ZS3 ($ 499.99 )with stereo sound recording capabilities, larger screen 2.7 to 3" and double pixels ( 460 000 ) Hd recording and so on, but here is a link about the review and some american prices at the end.

I think this is a hot deal, so if you were planning to buy compact super zoom camera than this panasonic is might be for you.

Not too many tiny cameras have viewfinders. Some do, but they look like they came from a cereal box as they are pretty tiny and useless.
The Canon G11 and G10 have a decent viewfinder for a travel camera.

I see there are tons on ebay now for $245.
With the dollar nearly at par, this shows that the TSCC "clearance" is no screaming deal, just about normal price for this camera.

Yeah I guess the 3" screen isnt enough to figure out what your taking a picture of.

Viewfinders are useful if you're in bright sun light or just want to save the camera's battery.

YES. Panasonic cameras are especially bad for having LCDs that are not legible in sunlight. The other useful situations are when it's dark or when you are trying to track a moving subject...

I've tried the ZS3 and the LCD is the best I've ever used on a digital camera in sunlight. On full power it is very easy to see in the brightest sunlight there could be. Unlike many Canons I've used and owned over the years.
There really is absolutely no need for a viewfinder on the ZS1/ZS3. I wish the ZS3 was on sale though...
And here's a compact super-zoom shoot-out from dpreview.com where the ZS1/ZS3 come out on top of the whole bunch: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209grouplongzoom/page16.asp
