great price for someone who wants a very cheap netbook.
Also very easy to hackintosh.
Though remember its a 9in display oin a 10' body and some people may not like seeing the bezel.

would you know when exactly that will happen? my frd is pretty interested in a netbook and he would be quite interested.

The advantage of these refurbs is the English Only keyboard instead of the CDN Bilingual one. The keys are bigger and there are no weird keys for touch typers.

Possibly important to some, there is no VGA out. And why do the HPs only have 2 USB ports?!

Its preety much better then the HP mini 110 in every way except that it uses a 1.8in drive and thats a bottle neck for performance. Easy to change drives though, but your limited to only choosing 1.8in.

Does the 1139NR ($229) have a VGA port, either a 'regular' one or at least one accessible via the special VGA cable adapter? I ask since the FS website says 'No' for 'VGA Output'.
I know about the older 1035NR -- it has VGA output, but only via a $25 special cable.

At the time of writing, there are only 63 smaller 8.9" screen netbooks left - down from about 120 a couple hours ago. There are 386 of the 10" screen netbooks left, but this number isn't dropping as fast. It's kind of hard to find the link to the larger netbook, you gotta click where it says "Upgrade for $40 more" below the netbook on the sales page after you "Click here to see all deals".
8.9" Netbook with 16GB Solid-State Drive:

Also note the pics seem to be identical - the 10" version is not being represented correctly. I think it looks like this:

Website says 14 days from the day you receive it. This item is not available for in-store pickup.
And BTW... all the 8.9's are sold out. Still got over 300 of the 10.1" models.

What's the difference between the sold-out 1115NR and the 1116NR for $10 more? There's still a good 400+ left of those here:

I think I'm missing something but I don't see any differences in the specs at all?

VGA out would be pretty important to me, as well as some other people. I'm looking for a cheap netbook (~$250). These HP ones obviously aren't ideal since an adapter would cost around $40-$50. Does anyone know of any other deals for netbooks?

You know, those two 8.9's appear to be the same machine. I didn't see that on the website last night... and it's not on the list if you "Click here to see all deals." They have since moved things around I see.

so what would be better the 229 one here or the 11.6" acer for 289 at staples(after coupons) Sorry, I didn't compare the two and I don't know how much they'd differ in performance. For me, the most important factor is the physical dimensions and the HP 1139NR is better for me in that respect. If you want something larger, the Acer may be better.

depends on what you want. I had both the mini 110 and the acer 1410 (both are very similar with size to these models)
I took back the hp mini for the big reason of the 1024x576 screen. It was just too little space for me and compared to my brothers dell mini 9, the text on the screen didn't look as crisp(9" and 10" screen but same resolution)
But then again I did like the size of the hp mini and the overall design.
