I think this deal has been on for awhile but I can't find a thread so...

Amazon.com has this (http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Voyager-855-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B000UBNFT2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1252064089&sr=8-1) on sale for 31.49 which about $40 cheaper than the lowest price in Canada (http://www.pricecanada.com/p.php/Plantronics-Voyager-855-Stereo-Bluetooth-7630001-501772/)

They will ship this item to Canada but the final cost will be around $45 USD which is still pretty cheap I think.

This bluetooth headset is interesting since it can be used as both a mono for phone calls and a stereo for music. Pretty good if you have an iPhone.

Sounds like a good deal OP. I've never been happy with my 1st gen Jawbone (fit, incoming/outgoing audio clarity and volume). I think I'll give this Plantronics 855 a try. The best bt headset I've ever used was my Sony Ericsson HBH300, which sadly broke after several years.

Does not mean it will deter those from using the phone in cars anyway.

Actually I tried to purchase this on amazon.com two days ago. The shipping came out to be $22USD or so and the total price is $59USD. I didn't buy it because the final price was almost 2x the original listing price.

I was in the US last week and ordered one. Cost me $31.49USD (free shipping in the US). Didn't realize that shipping / duty is actually quite reasonable to Canada, else I would have posted.

If you are planning an overnight trip to the US with a hotel room, most of them will let you ship packages there and keep them for you as long as you have a reservation.

As for the 855, I like it, the A2DP isn't the greatest, but I find that if the ear piece and bud are properly fitted, the sound is pretty good.

When paired with my Storm, Bold or N95 the range is also pretty good for music, phone calls. My only gripe is that sliding the boom closed ends calls, I accidentally did that a few times.

Mine arrived last tuesday. It was working for 2 hours.
I am actually surprised how good the music sounded when I paired it to my phone.

However it stopped working after 2 hours. I requested a replacement from Amazon and they shipped out a new unit within one day! Hooray to Amazon customer service.

Got mine today and its charging now. One initial impression I have is that the sliding boom piece feels cheap and easy to break. It also doesn't have a spring mechanism so it makes it more difficult to be sure its either fully open or fully closed, as it can get stuck in an in between position.

Thanks Op for bringing this up... I was in the process of purchasing either the Plantronics 650E or the 665 from TigerDirect.ca... they were in the same price range, so another $7 extra for this is hopefully worth it :)

As for something i noticed during the checkout process.. looks like amazon is continuously updating the import fees based on what it gets charged for items already shipped... My import fee seems to be $0.50 more than the rest posted here... Not a big deal but its interesting that they do to that :)

So far i've almost nothing to complaint about execpt for the fact that the volume is not very loud, and the mic seem a bit cheap and easily breakable.

Nothing else... a big upgrade from my previous Samsung el cheapo headset.

I didn't order through Amazon. I've had this headset for nearly a year, paid $80 through eBay seller "plantronicswholesale"--they have a whack of real Plantronics stuff, shipped within Canada, for half the cost of store prices--but NOTHING close to this thread's excellent price.

Not the main piece, but the ear extension part (the part that clips in to go to the second ear) crapped out a few weeks ago. Plantronics Canada is replacing the entire unit, at their shipping cost to me (I have to return the defective set but I assume they will provide return shipping, we'll see).

Best part (?) is that the eBay seller sold me the previous year's model, with an outdated date code. Plantronics honoured a one-year warranty based on my proof of purchase (thank you PayPal history and receipt).

Except for the small defective part, I really like this headset and loved it in stereo.

Figured it was about time I give my own view on this (with an iPhone cetric twist)

Good (beyond the price)

works with iPhone
both a stereo headset for music and phone make it very convenient
with the plug in both ears makes it very easy to hear a conversation and haven't had complaints on voice quality yet
switches seamlessly between phone and music
very light weight and the battery life seems decent

Cons

wifi on iPhone can cause interference
can't use volume control on iPhone, must use one on headset
ear plugs are good but I've used better (and worse too)
can dislodge a bit with running

Overall I would say that this is a good moderate use headset. It is not for the active user but is more than fine if you're riding the GO train.
The big thing I don't like and not sure if it is an iPhone specific issue is that with WiFi turned on it causes both a delay and a stutter. I read it's because they use the same frequency. So on the train I turn off the WiFi (which saves battery life anyways) and it makes the sound quality so much better.

Given the uses of an iPhone (phone, music and video) this is a great item for the price.

Even with the mic boom extended, I have had complaints of background noise from people I call when using this headset on the street. I have been told my 1st gen Jawbone headset has better noise cancellation.

I have had the exact same delay/stutter of music issue using this Plantronics headset with my iPhone as well. Thanks for the tip, I will try turning off wifi. I'm also disappointed that when paired with the iPhone, volume can only be controlled via the headset, not the iPhone itself. The lowest volume setting on this Plantronics headset is still too loud in some situations. This isn't really a negative against the headset, but rather the iPhone, as this occurs with all stereo bluetooth headsets paired with the iPhone.

I've tried it out on PS3 and it works, although I can't hear myself so I don't know exactly how well. Clear enough that people on Uncharted 2 can seem to understand me though. However, the background noise/music from the game seems to activate the mic (as indicated by the little speaker picture flashing up), even at a moderate sound level. But again, I don't know if this translates into something annoying for people on the other end as I can't hear myself.

Hmm, check if you set the audio output to the headset.

Got mine a few weeks ago, for $34 USD, it was a good enough headset. I was using a SE Stereo one, hb-980 or something, and it keeps disconnecting with my iphone after every call, so I switched to this. Sounds good on my end, but people on the other side seems to have sound quality issues when I am on the headset. I tried with it extended and also not extended and it's still a bit spotty. It also doesn't seem to stay in my ear too well, so I only put on when a call comes in.

ordered mine friday and received it this wednesday.

Packaging sure ain't cheap. Looks like a 100$ bluetooth piece. The lanyard that comes with the connector is pretty useful for someone like me who lost his last bluetooth in a jacket pocket.

The sliding boom looks really fragile, you can't tell if it's really close or not. Hopefully Amazon will honor the guarantee or Plantronics.
