I have just been taken for a PS3 by "AznVengence"

I was just ripped off for a PS3. Absolutely livid right now, I'll tell the story.......

I traded some user a 360 for a PS3. Everything went smooth, contact, transaction. All good, until I got the unit home. First thing I noticed was 1 of the two controllers mentioned was not a Sony brand controller. This was however, not mentioned. I let it slide, not too big of a deal. He said the PS3 has a small amount of use on it.

Well. The PS3 is now not functioning at all, it has a Yellow Light of Death. It worked for about 30 minutes when I got home and then I was 3% into downloading and update, not installing an update, it shut down because of overheating, and it will not turn on at all now. It's effectively dead. When I got this unit home I noticed it was incredibly loud. Louder than even a Xbox 360 12v fan mod. I was ok with this as I thought "Oh no problem, PS3's just have fast fans, that is why they don't die.". Wish that was the case.

The fans do this when the PS3 is about to die. I read this online and left it on for only a few more minutes and it died. The real problem with this is I even tossed in a 60gb with that 360. I am a nice guy, very respectful, and this just kills me, this is the second time this month I have been taken. Why must people do this? It's pathetic, really.

I will relinquish his name if he does not contact me and resolve this. But the way this is already going, I don't think that is going to happen.

um so how exactly did you get taken? sounds like it just broke while it was in your hands. or are you assuming that the previous owner just somehow knew it was going to break the next time he turned it on and thus wanted to trade it away immediately?

He knew it was on its way out, that's why it broke within an hr of using it. I have not mentioned his name, nor will I if he responds.

It has been about 5 hrs since my last msg and no response. Before this he responded quickly. Just does not seem good you know? Thanks for replying tho, appreciate that. :)

This is not an assumption, this is what happened. PS3 up's the fans RPM's and they start spinning very fast when a PS3 is starting to die, that is a fact. Countless people have documented this, and this is only valid if the PS3's fans act like this ALL the time, they are not supposed to be this audible on a properly functioning PS3. Either way it was malfunctioning before he gave it to me, whether he knew or not is irrelevant, the fact is it's not working correctly so he owes me the 360 I traded him.

I just found a post with him stating he had his PS3 fixed, it had YLOD. Exactly what it is doing now. He did not mention this, in fact it makes me think I should post his name now. He said the PS3 was used for a short amount of time, PS3's take a long time to YLOD. He has had it for 2 years and used it a TON, it had YLOD he got it fixed then sold it to me just before it died. His statements about the condition of the system were a bold faced lie and that in my eyes is a fraudulent seller.

I am going to give him until 8pm to respond. After that his name will show up in this thread and at that point, anyone who has dealt with him in the past any info would be appreciated.

This forum he does not. So I implore anyone one who has dealt with this guy to come forward and tell me anything that might help. He will not get away with this, and maybe with RFD's help I can get my 360 back. Regrettably I did not get his phone # or any other contact info. Stupid Stupid Stupid <-.

It was fixed for YLOD and I tested it before I gave it to him. I didn't mention the brand of the controllers.

Not a problem though, I am willing to trade back, I have not even touched the xbox 360.

Hey guys, I sent a PM to the OP, but haven't recieved a reply.

I just want some opinion as I'm very confused.

Here is what the OP said in one of the PM's he sent me:
I was going to send it to Sony to get it fixed. I didn't think you were going to respond so I already paid for the repair on my CC and packaged it up. So I dunno what to do now. Why don't we meet up again, I'll give you $100 for the broken PS3 and you give me my Xbox 360 back.

I looked around on the SONY site and found that when you submit a Online Service Request it is roughly 24 hours before they get back to you with the information. Though I can believe that it will come within the 8 hours we had no contact. BUT the thing that disturbs me is: Sony sends a pre-paid package to the person who is requesting the service, it is also noted that SONY does not charge the credit card till they actually repair it...

He doesn't know about the volunteering thing. But if you must tell RFD about yes, I was volunteering the day of the incident.

After I traded with him I went to eat, after that I went to go volunteering at the Canadian Running Series down at the Direct Energy Center, where I was again volunteering today as well.

I don't think anyone here would suddenly, only about 8 hours after trading would suddenly send it back to repair.

Your PS3 is not going to work any time soon, it can be fixed again yes, but it will happen over and over. It's not worth it. You can't fix this problem permanently, you even paid someone to do it and they failed. Trust me on this one.

Yeah tbh man, I don't even want to deal with this anymore at all. I know there are people out there that are on my side. As long as there are some people who can read through the lines, I'll have sufficient backup.

I offered him a different idea. If he can EMT me some cash, he can keep that Xbox 360 and I will just eat some $$$ and we will go our separate ways. sounds like you semi-bricked it from it turning off during the update. it is very possible that you may be able to reset the ps3 using one of the methods posted online.

I don't know how much shipping you have done, there is not a company in the world that is going to say no to their customer taking care of all the shipping.

Ive done more than enough, I just want to settle quickly now. I really don't have the time to be running back and forth to the PC trying to find out when this kid finally agrees to something and doesn't lie or change his mind at the last second making me cancel an appointment tomorrow morning. I still don't see why he has to pay for anything. He gave it to you in working condition. Okay, it broke. You PM'd him. You didn't wait for a reply. If you track the messages and notice he reads them but don't reply (after several PM's), ask a mod for their opinion (nsx is awesome). I don't think he was ignoring you, he just wasn't at his comp. You could've waited. The PS3 YLOD'd on you it's not like it will progressively get worse. Pack up the PS3 wait the next day it will still be a YLOD. You could've waited a few days even. 1. Since the PS3 is getting repaired, both parties should just keep their systems, no trade back. Even if you say "but it will keep giving me the YLOD", you paid for the repair knowing you will have to repair it again, so live with it.

2. Trade back the systems (if azn is willing). Straight trade.

I"ve known a few people who were banned by xbox live on different circumstances. A simple phone call resolved all that.

Azn can still get Live. I recommend he calls up M$ with the serial number in hand and explain that he was sold the system and the seller is attempting fraud by claiming it's been stolen. Azn can provide his personal details to M$ to look credible and legit.

M$ would think "this guy is providing personal details. he wouldn't be doing this if it was stolen."

Xbox Live call center clerks are easy to talk to. Hell, speak to the manager and then if nothing works out, ask to be transferred to the fraud department and file a fraud claim on OP and have your Live re-instated.

I just had my ps3 service recently. I live in Ajax and the SONY service center is located in Whitby, so you know how close we are.

here is my time table:
9/12 Sat. 8:00pm called Sony and got a link for online service request.
9/13 Mon. Sony opened the case and send the box.
9/15 Tue. 2:pm got the box. and sent it back at the same day around 7:00pm.

I just had my ps3 service recently. I live in Ajax and the SONY service center is located in Whitby, so you know how close we are.

here is my time table:
9/12 Sat. 8:00pm called Sony and got a link for online service request.
9/13 Mon. Sony opened the case and send the box.
9/15 Tue. 2:pm got the box. and sent it back at the same day around 7:00pm.
9/16 Wed. Sony repaired my ps3 and sent it out back to me at the same day.
9/17 Thu. 12:0pm received.

Just a note to AznVengeance if you're having issues unbanning your Xbox360 just provide customer service a link to this thread to prove the OP reported the device "stolen" out of retaliation that should be enough proof to help your case.

Oh and just some advice for the future...when you sell a used item, it would be in your best interest to state any repairs or issues that you've had with the product and try not to omit small details like the unbranded controller. That way if the buyer has any issues after they've purchased it they can't turn around and blame it on you. It seems like I got her attention. I just got a refund (cashed the EMT already) and this message from Tyler's mom.

Your refund has been sent. I was contemplating not sending it myself since you are harassing me. I am not the one you had a deal with yet you thought it was fine to go to my blogs and do a character assassination. I think you are a nasty person of questionable character to do this. I am not my son! Yet you chose actions specifically to hurt me. What does that make you I wonder?

I remember when I called her and spoke to her the first time on the phone. She honestly believed that Tyler was the victim in all his past cases, and nothing against his mom as that's what parents do (think the best of their kids).

But in this case, I think his mom should have stepped up earlier. She told me she would get him to ship the memory to me the first time I talked to her... but that didn't lead to anything.

And her accusations of harassment? I tried calling her back, and I only spoke directly with someone 4 times (Tyler twice, he hung up on me one of the times, then Carol once, then someone else another time). All other times I've been ignored, and I've even left a clear message on their answering machine. I'm assuming it was just deleted by Tyler.

Since I wasn't able to call successfully, I tried emailing. I emailed his mom's account directly, but no response at all except for today with the refund message.

And in this case, even though Tyler is over 25 years old, he still lives at home under his mother's roof. She should have been able to get him to straighten the deal up himself, or if not she should have resolved it right away (she knew her son was VERY late and in the wrong).

I assured you received your money from my son. My email was used unbeknown to me. I am getting many emails from people I do not know calling me horrid things. Please take off my email address and also, the picture you have up there is wrong, that is of my other son. I have been told there is also a picture of our house and our address posted too. My son is banned and that is good, but this is all reflecting onto me now. So please take it all off.

I originally put your email address to warn people that your address was associated with your son (I sent payment to him using that email address). If you'll agree to take away your son's access to your email (change password to one he doesn't know), then I'll remove your e-mail address.

Keep in mind that Google's cache will still show your email address (you'd have to deal with Google on that). And as for other posts with your address and picture of your house, you'd have to talk to the people who posted those things.

One more thing, if I find out your son is scamming again, then I'll repost your information. Take control of your son, he lives in your house... you're the parent, not him.

So let me know if you agree to the terms. I won't do any change otherwise.

I have already changed it twice since this happened and would be willing again. Brandon, my son lives in an apt. in the basement. I had no knowledge of what he was doing and unfortunately he is a little too old to take over my knee. You can advise older children, it does not mean they will listen.

Yea I think it's fair to leave up Tyson's direct contact info (like address and phone number... even though it's the same as his mom's, it's still his main contact info). But I did get rid of his mom's personal email. Googling her email address shows that she uses it (unless Tyson is looking to date men and is posting tips/experiences with cosmetics/makeup :lol:). When I talked to Carol on the phone, it really seemed like she doesn't know what's up with her son. And in my situation, she was the person who eventually rectified the problem. Maybe with the harassment she's getting, she'll be less naive about her son and won't think of him as a victim anymore.

If it wasn't for JAC's post with all the info, I wouldn't have been able to get in contact with Carol and get my money back.

I agree with the rest of you. His information should be left up for reference purposes. I have good faith in the RFD community and that none of his information will be exploited for bad. These are the consequences of being a scammer and he has to realize that. Besides, this is better than what he could've faced had he continued on this path. He should consider himself lucky.

Exactly. The info should remain up. There is no reason to take it down. Also, if he was using his mom's email as a contact how could she NOT know? She doesn't read her inbox? I highly doubt this dumbass is smart enough to cover his tracks (eg. delete the emails right after.) Either she knew and didn't give a crap or she was fine with what her son was doing. Things like this just piss me off. Just like the Shazaam scam.. where the **** are the parents these days?
