So you consider 79% to be not that hot?
Speaking as someone who has actually played the game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 serves up a heck of a lot of superhero fun. If you have even a passing interest in Marvel superheroes, you owe it to yourself to play this game.

Complete rip-off at $69.99, not a deal at $58.99. People, stop paying these prices for games, you're just letting them edge higher and higher and higher.

Looks like futureshop is matching most of walmarts anniversary sale prices.
FNR4, bioshock and Tigers woods are also lowered.
Oddly enough, some of them aren't down to the same price as WM. They are very close though.
I wonder why BB hasn't followed.

Correct. It's out of a hundred and hotter titles get higher scores. Your confusion confuses me. I thought percentages were fairly universally understood.
That being said, I am enjoying it. It's a decent game but nothing spectacular. Super hero fans in general will have a great time with it.

Yea I definately don't consider 79% hot.
And I totally didn't like this game. Like its fun playing with spiderman for 5 minutes. But after 20 minutes of button mashing its just tiring.

80% by my understanding is very good.. above average. Even metacritic defines it as 'Generally favorable reviews'
If my kid brought home a report card full of B's, I would be pretty happy.
If you toss out the 1up score (not sure how a B- works out to 67%), the score bumps up to nearly 85%. That to me is pretty close to a must-buy game.

played the games its just random button mashing and it wasnt as fun as the first one not a must own game more like a rent. The reviews may say its an almost 8 but i find its more of a 7.

i like the game, not sure if it is worth that much, a renter will do for this game.
you will probably need to buy the game if you want to platinum it as it is impossible to within 7 days (unless you have no kids, no wife, leave alone, no job, no sleep)
it's a fun game and should definite play in my books...story line is kind of far fetch (but hey, it's a comic)....i just use juggernaut and ram people, and smash the ground....him and ms marvelous are awesome...

Definitely a really fun game, and for those who have friends it is one of the few good games around that still has local multiplayer. I was very excited for the game and it hasn't disappointed.

I finished the first Ultimate Alliance with friends. Number two is just not fun, all of us got bored after 20 mins and went back to playing Gears of War Horde mode.

it is NOT a button smasher. it does involve strategy if you are playing on the higher difficulties

Guess you won't be playing that many games if 79% is still not acceptable. Your loss. Its a fun game by any standards and beats alot of other games i have seen and played on the PS3.

Not to say i disagree with you that no one should pay $69.99 for a game T3G1F with turds at EB is the way to go but this is still a deal for those who did not capitalize on doing that. $10 off a new game title is pretty good considering its still really on its 1st week of release.. don't get spoiled from the Batman: AA from WM.. we are not likely to see it to repeat itself.
Yea I definately don't consider 79% hot.

I assume you played on either easy or heroic difficulty and not super heroic. You will be pretty amazed at what little button mashing does for you at later levels.. don't give up so easily, at least play through the game to comment. I can tell you for a fact if you are not blocking or roll evading in legendary, you can expect a swift death on some bosses later.

Again, refer to above post. If you actually played through the game and did legendary difficulty i cannot imagine the comment will remain.

Finally, someone who actually played through the game and comment.
I mean, simply put, every game is easy at the beginning.. if they made it insanely difficult at the beginning, all of you would be deterred away. Its part of their way of orienting you into the game and getting accustomed to it. Your loss on a good game if you quit after 5 minutes.

I agree. The only thing I wished they had done was to make defeating bosses a little more varied. It's cool that they are offensively diverse but really beating them is not that interesting. Like grabbing Scorpion by the tail and flinging him or having other flying players against Magneto, or using a tripping attack first on a character yielding better results.
The side missions on the Wii are challenging and different. Only done the Venom, Jean and Pennance ones though.

Ah, I understand now. Game scoring doesn't work like report cards. Generally, 90+% is a must-buy. 80+% is good, and 70-80 is average. Anything under 70 is a pass.
79% is above average, but average generally sucks so it doesn't say much. I would agree that the scoring is accurate on this game.

I've played through it on normal, and am now going through it on legendary. It's pretty mashtacular. Legendary, you just need to mash faster :D. Standard tactic, take a couple of tanks (The Thing and Ms. Marvel work wonders) to do close range combat and a couple of ranged guys to do the range attacks (Gambit, Songbird, etc.). I agree with a comment below, that as you progress on the harder Legendary levels, you will feel compelled to block and evade. But you can run through it on normal without having to block at all (evade is standard for most boss battles).
If you want a less mashy super hero game, go for Batman Arkham Asylum, if you want frantic superhero mashy mayhem, go for this one.
I am a big comic buff, and was a fan of Ultimate Alliance 1, so I enjoyed UA2 as it's more of the same. I thought the story was better in UA1, but I like the Fusion attacks in UA2. Anyone have a favorite character combination for Fusion attacks? I like the thing, venom or hulk, Targetted Fusion with range characters to make the piece of ground explode on top of the enemy (i.e.: chunk of ground full off pumpkin bombs or plasma cards, etc.). I also really like Songbird and Ms. Marvel's clearing Fusion.
I give it a 7.5/10 all around. For the die card Marvel fan, it could be a decent purchase, but I think for most, it would make a good week rental.
B.

^ Reviews have been saying that it's basically more of the same from the first Ultimate Alliance, with slightly less content in parts (e.g., less alternate costumes to unlock) and some parts more streamlined, and better graphics. Looks fun nonetheless. I have my PS3 copy and the Juggernaut code, but am playing through the first one on my PSP first. Playing it on the PSP will definitely give you eye-strain from all the tiny character models ...

I did play through legendary and I didnt lose to any bosses I lost to the henchmen after defeating the tinkerer and was left with 1 guy and no health pips during the elevator scene going to the top of the repeater tower. The difficulty was obviously raised but like someone else just said just do quicker button mashing.

I played for an hour over Xbox Live with a friend last night. Some bad camera angles. Also, we were both playing on a 42" and it was still sometimes hard to see what's going on. I'll probably just play through the game myself because my friend's connection sucks anyways.

As someone who has not played MUA before, I'm finding MUA2 quite entertaining. I understand the button mashing comments; if all you want to accomplish is beating the game then yeah, button mashing is what you're going to get.
The flaws I've come across are:
- visibility suck in many situations. Both dark lighting and when it's zoomed way too far out.
- Difficulty is too easy. I started on Super Heroic and went through it without dieing multiple times at the same fight. They should've made the trophies up to Legendary and then added an extra difficulty called "Stupid" and made it so button mashing doesn't work at all.
- Online play isn't anything special, just the game with other people.
Visibility is livable, but the difficulty and limited online flaws just make MUA2 not a "keeper" unless you're going to have weekly MUA2 parties.
As the saying goes "You Only Get Out What You Put In". Therefore, I think MUA2 has potential to entertain for a while. However, while MUA2 has better longevity than other non-online games out there, if you want longevity, get an online game.
Oh and as for trophies, I find this game to be pretty good so far. I haven't come across any trophies which I think will take too much time, but most of them can be accomplished along the way to beating the game.(If you aren't too lazy to plan)

This is a fun button mashing arcade game with super heroes. It's not something new but it is an improvement over the first one since the fusion powers are nice. The difficulty IS too easy. I've yet to have to restart a checkpoint on Super Heroic. The game isn't as long as the first one (I'm actually happy about that) and the story is good. My son has finished the pro-reg campaign and is picking up from the anti-reg spot where you had to save. I'm still early in the pro-reg side (not quite halfway). It's a fun game but there isn't anything truly original in this game.

Played the MUA2 through with a friend last week and returned it before the GG, and this week I'm playing MUA lent to me from a friend.
I actually enjoyed 2 better, its more fun and just brainless action as if you were to see a summer flick but its fun and has a good pace and completion time. The first game has more depth and 'puzzles' for bosses and stuff but its a bit long winded imo. I have 3 missions left and I'm 13 hours in, and I beat MUA2 in 7 hours haha but I enjoyed every moment of it.
