Not really free because there is annual fee of $39.
And you can get an AIO printer for less than that.

That's not bad. I might get it just for the printer.
I did the same thing with a sony card a while back. After the first purchase I got a free 8gb Sony MP3 player :) ... Didn't use the card since I paid the first purchase lol.
Thanks OP
Edit: Actually there's a 39$ yearly fee and when looking at item # 752323 on staples it's not valued at 120$ but 70$ :)

Not really free because there is annual fee of $39.
From there website:
$39 annual fee. Only $9 annual fee for each supplemental card – waived for the first year
The card is free for the first year.

So get the card, get the printer (if it's not OOS), cancel the card?
And the only cost is the enviro fee and your time? Or is the supplemental fee waived the first year, not the annual?
Bad user reviews on the printer:

So this is really isn't just for a credit card application. You need to be approved for the card AND make a purchase with it in order to qualify.
So it should be "free printer with credit card approval".

Anything that requires appling for a credit card = horrible deal.
Unless you don't mind getting hit 10-15 points on your credit rating for the credit check.

makes it a little better as you can cancel the card sometime mid year or earlier :)

Not bad at all. Get the card, buy something and get the free printer then cancel that card soon afterwards or trade up to a different Citi card that has no annual fee and get rid of the Staples one.

maybe it it's a really good sale or clearance (e.g. the $30 sales at TS a while back)
AIO IJ printers are usually upwards of $50 even when on sale
