...but I'm thinking there must be a way for those with creative minds to take part in this. Here is where I got the info
http://gizmodo.com/5361767/students-get-windows-7-home-premium-for-30
"The deal page isn't live yet, but this one's Twitter official: Windows 7 will be just $30 for US college students. Full details are expected any minute, but for now, there's just a placeholder. UPDATED: It's up.
The conditions of the deal, which just went live, are as simple as can be: If you're an active student at an American university, and you have a working email address from said university, you're entitled to the $30 price for Windows 7 Home Premium, which is normally $120. Best of all, the offer's good until January 3rd, so you've got plenty of time to bag a license. [Microsoft]"

Well an update (sort of) from a number of websites mentioning this dead
"Update: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Korea and Mexico will also have similar offers but exact pricing varies by market. Details will follow."
So once again, this is more of a "heads up" post, and I'm sure many RFDers here will find creative/outside the box approaches to this opportunity.

Same deal in the UK (http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/studentoffer/default.aspx) (but @ £30). Perhaps a Canadian link will show up soon.

No surprise. I think students can get Vista Ultimate for $64, so it's logical that they exend the deal to Windows 7. Good pricing though. If it ends up being around $35CAD, that's a lot better then the current deal.

If you know someone in the US just have them buy it for you and then paypal them. That's what I'd like to do, for 30 bucks, you can't go wrong. You're entitled to all updates right? like all the new service packs when they come out if you have this one?

I'd say, its an a real copy.
If anyone finds an american university student I'd get into a group buy with them.

Nice! Hopefully it turns out to be a better price than what I pre-ordered it for on Amazon ($64.99).

Thanks for the linkage! But I sure hope MS releases the pricing details before Oct 22... so we can decide whether or not to cancel the pre-orders from FS/Staples/Amazon/etc.

Yeah Windows 7 is gonna have a "family pack" that you can use on up to 3 computers. It costs $149US and I think it's gonna be $199CAN here.

Its Professional X64. The only catch is, you have to be in engineering department.

Your university should have the same program (MSDNAA) for you to get access to 'free' software if you're in the engineering/computer science faculties.

How about we wait and make a topic when it's open to Canada.
