about 2 weeks ago i was looking to get spare set of key and remote, went over to the dealership and asked how much it will be and i was told the key will be around $139.99 +tax and the remote will be around $169.99+tax with the programming done with it. I didnt order right away since i was planning to check around other sources. I got home and to my suprise my GF was on the phone in there parts department regarding this same issue, and to my suprise she got the key for $12 and the remote $112 inlcuding taxes. WTF !

Took a week and went to pick it up, the same guy that qouted me the first prices was there and i told him that im here for a pick up and gave him the parts no, under my VIN and told me that there no way i got those prices its not even mentioned in there system, my GF being prepared as she is got the parts employee name which gave her that prices in the first place. The guy was on the way to work during that time, waited for him and have him get those prices the other guy just walked off for a guy who's telling me that prices dont exist atleast stay and find out how the other guy got those prices. So got extra set of key and remote was getting programmed, waiited for like 10 mins then a mechanic comes to the department and tells the other guy who walked off that he cannot program the remote since my reciever was not functioning???? which is wierd since i got the original remote with me working fine, cmon wat kind of excuse are there pulling on me there telling me random crap and prices to replace the unit. I just purchased the key and remote and just left. Got home went online to a audi group forums and found out how to programmed the remote within 10 mins i got it working.

Now today, i was leaving for work this morning and im having problems with the ignition i cannnot get my key inn at first took several tries but then the iginition setting its messed up it doesnt go back at all or start the car it leaves everything open . Googled and found at that there was a recall for this problem for this audi model and year, Called there 1-800 no to find out more info and to see if my car was been serviced inn for that problem. Assures me that it wasnt and told me to go to a local dealership and of course the only nearest one is audi mississauga. Went over lol same guy was there, told him wat my issue was. He printed something online on that recall no. and right away on the expression something is wrong $$$$. Told me that the recall was expired on MAY 2008 ..im like WTF i got off on ur 1-800 recall service department and they assured me that this was covered at no charge since my vehicle hasnt been replaced yet, again this guy just makes crap up. I just got fed up and left and during the progress home i called the recall department again and told them wat just happened without even effort they assured me that they should have refused me or charge me anything, i told them that this dealership was been like this to me since day one going there. They apoligize and called the dealership to see wats is going on..to my suprise denial and the guy whos been telling me this crap was no where to be found. They told me just come back to them and this time they will order the part and setup a time to get it done, i didnt bother i told the recall department find another dealership to get it done with...within 20 mins i got a call from another dealership and told me that part has been ordered within the week and will call back to setup a time and pick up for my car.

Just a warning...watch out for Audi of Mississauga sales/service department they will treat u like sh$t and just robbed u on something that is supposed be a recall. Im not sure because im a young guy and assumes i dont know anything but just a terrible experiences. I was hoping that guy gets a warning letters/fined/ just fired....but again im not sure wat rank he pulls in that dealership.

You should report to talk to the General Manager or Service Manager there then report it to Audi Head Office. They shouldn't be able to get away with what they put you through.

i also dont think any key is $12 unless you have a car from the 80's

There is more to this than what is said here. This car is from 1996 and it is originally from QC. It has had several owners too. The recall is outstanding and it is good, meaning it has to be done. I'm not sure why the service advisor said that. BTW, the recall is only for the electrical part of the ignition.

I would post this information as well as names in the Audi forum. I would also call OMVIC and raise a complaint with them as they can contact the dealership owner to resolve this matter.

I had this issue with Shanahan Ford years ago and contacted OMVIC. They in turn contacted the owner who told me he would take care of the issues. I got a call back from the dealership and went to them and the service was 180 degree difference. They told me that the owner chewed them out because complaints to OMVIC can affect their licensing renewal rates, etc.
