I don't like it.

Feels sorta pudgy and slow when it's got more than one person sitting in the car.

Yes, I know speed isn't everything. Love the front, hate the back.

Accord 08/09 models have squeaky brakes (look at auto beef / consumer reports user reviews and ask people who own the car)... Honda knows about it but can't fix it easily since it's tied to the computer system or something. Make sure you research this before buying.

V6 should be a lot better, powerful and smooth. But then again if budget is a constraint, the I4 isn't bad. I love the styling both inside and out.

Brake is always an issue with Honda as they use undersized brake for their cars. I know as I own many Honda products and my biggest complaint is the brake.

I drive I4.

If you are going to drive mostly on highway, you would probably need V6.

For city driving, I think I4 is good enough in terms of better handling than V6.

But if you are taking more than 2 people in the car including you, then you would need V6 as well.

So far, I like this car over its competitors. (better interior finish, better sound, bigger room at the back and the trunk.

Honda's 4 cylinder engines have very little power, these cars are very heavy and the engines do not keep up. I have a 06 4cyl with quite a few modifications and the engine definitely shows its lag with the heavy body it needs to carry.

I also have an 09 accord coupe and it's beautiful both for city driving and highway. Only issue once again would be rotors and brakes.

I guess it depends on your Driving Style, do you like to push it?

If it's just a daily/getting work, I'm sure sticking with base is all you need.

Dislikes...

Transmission. Sure, Standard is the way to go but if you can't it would've been sweet if Honda uses Tiptronic/F1 Paddle Shifting (6-Speed).

Rear End. Pale, bland and sticks up & out.

Suggestions that would eliminate my dislikes and if you can't afford the V6 are...

Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5S (my sister has it, I have the 3.5SE). They made some great improvements on the '10 model. Check it out.

I'm not sure why there is all the hate for the I4 in the base model Accord. It's not as if the car can't accelerate to 100KM/H in a reasonable fashion. In terms of performance, it is still far superior to comparable cars of the 90's.

Unless you're racing around town, the performance of the Accord to complete your daily commute, with 4 people in the car, will be fine.

If you're a more aggressive driver, who likes to accelerate quickly in and out of traffic, then the V6 is the obvious choice.

in the long run being a tuner myself.

i would take the k24 instead of the v6
with kpro+k20r head+stage 2 cams+header+catback=sex
im estimating close to 260-275whp or low 13s in 1/4

add boost to this and you've got 400+hp 11second accord.

Accord i4 is actually not a bad car. I have the heavier sedan and my only dislike is that it feels a bit underpowered going uphills with more than 1 person in the car. Apart from that, the fuel economy is very good as per my expectations. About 550-600 km on a full tank with pure city driving and about 800-850 km with pure highway driving. I do have a light foot though.

I have driven my 08 i4 Accord sedan from Mississauga to New Jersey without refueling and with 3 average weighed people on board. It was about a 850 km drive with ABOUT 50-60 km still remaining upon reaching my destination. Fuel light hadn't come on at this point.

I have heard of engine oil issues with the V6 engine. A lot of owners have commented on increased engine oil consumption (more than average for V6 Accords) due to its ECO drive feature.

hm, if you are the only one mostly in the car, then I dont think $4500 will worth. In my understanding of a good car, it is not all about "speed", or "acceleration". Well, definately you need a good acceleration on highways, and I found i4 does its job well enough, even with 4 people, no problem.

My father actually drives S65 AMG in my country, and I drove sometime. So for me, when I was buying a car with 2xxhp's, like v6 or i4(well it is actually 190hp, but it is close to 200hp so..haha) , instead of looking at the horsepower, I looked for which I can afford and which one is good enough for me.

In short, if you are looking for something faster than accord i4, and have money to buy v6, I would look for different models, like GTI or mini cooper s which are more built as a sports car. Or even mazda rx8. If the size matters, and if you dont care used cars, then maybe G37.

If you are really like the looks and concerning about the reliability, then go and testdrive with AC fully on, and try to accelerate. I guess you can expect how i4 will handle with 3 passengers by doing that.

Both i4 and v6 are really good car, reliable, fuel efficient, nice style, etc.

Hope you make a wise purchase.

i actually test drove the coupe with three ppl and i thought the acceleration was pretty good. i even test drove the sedan a week ago and there was 3 of us in the car and the acceleration was pretty smooth and the sedan is ~100kg (so basically more than another person in the coupe) heavier that the coupe. I think im going to settle for the i4. Thanks for the help guys

on a side note ... is it possible for me to put a deposit towards the end of September and request delivery in October??? This way if the Oct rebates are better i can use that or if not just stick with Sept rebates.

any thoughts?

as long as you don't back out of the deal at the last minute, that should be fine. My sales rep told me the exact same thing. But make sure you put in your deposit towards the end of September so the wait time is minimized. good luck.

Is the trend for incentives to get better October/November? I'd like a V6 but the rebate is still smaller than it was in the spring.

donno if the rebates will be similar to that of spring ... honda was doing really bad that time ... maybe a 500-1000 $ hopefully? :D

EDIT: meant to say 500-1000$ more

Not hating on the Base. OP is not deciding between LCD & LED here, it's a big purchase.

Like some NICO 2.5S Coupe owners, they regret not getting the 3.5SE/V6. I know I did back when I bought my '02 Acura RSX Premium instead of the Type S.

OP, did you test drive the V6? Just curious.

Gotta go with the V6 6MT!!! I have an 08 Accord Sedan with the V6 and it's a sweet & smooth engine with loads of power...just wish it had a manual option... Having said that...if the Passat CC had just come out a few months earlier...
