Hi,
My brother is thinking of in near future of selling in his 2000 Acura TL w/110k km and buy a used 2005 Nissan Altima SE-R, worth the buy and sell of the TL??
thanks,
Chris

compared with your current generation tl it will be better perforamnce wise. it is faster and manual only, also the suspension is firmed up quite a bit from the standard altima in that generation. the steering also has less assistance giving it a more direct feel.
in terms of luxury they will be pretty much equipped the same way, so whatever is in your tl, expect it to be in the altima.
if he wants something newer and more sporty, the altima is a good way to move up, only thing is it looses that "prestige" of the acura name badge (if you consider acura a luxury brand)

The Altima SE-R can be had in both auto and manual transmissions. It's better in just about every way to a 00 TL.
To be honest though, you're better off with a regular Altima 3.5 and modding it yourself to be better than the SE-R. The SE-R is more of a show package car than a go package car. Yes it has slightly stiffer springs and thicker sway bars, and even light weight forged wheels but it's actually no faster than a normal one. Some car mags even found it to be a touch slower due to the extra weight.

be careful of the 3.5 VG. I had a SE-R and a 2001 Maxima...old both with roughly 130K as the maintenance bill for both were in the 1500K/year/car. Almost the same issue with both the cars (TB sensor, MAF, coils, etc)...so just be careful. But I loved that engine

VQ35DE? VG is the older generation engine!

Some of the manual vq35's in the g35 had issues with burning oil. Look in to it and make sure the Altima doesn't suffer the same fate.
