Canadian tire. It is a scratch and win but the worst prize is the cake coupon.
You take coupon to grocery store to get free cake. they say no purchase necessary. the scratch and win comes in flyer. im sure they will give them out at store as well. please abuse this freebie. I hate these promotions. Im on a diet.

It's a 50/50 chance of it being a $5 coupon or a Cake coupon.

The paperboy who delivers the freebie weekly newspaper hasn't delivered the Wednesday edition which normally contains most of the weekly flyers (CT, Safeway, IGA, Super Store, etc.).
It was rainy last Wednesday and I'm sure the paperboy has some issue with delivering during wet days. I swear that whenever it's wet outside, I can count on no newspaper being delivered. Whether that's paperboy's policy or the newspaper's delivery policy I don't know.
Anyways, it's a free paper so I can't complain too much. I'll have to look online for the flyers, but I rather look at the physical print editions as it's much more convienent.
I just hope that the paperboy hasn't horded all the scratch and win's from the CT flyers.

You should call the paper to let them know that you are not getting regular deliveries. While they are free, they are still supposed to be delivered each Wed & Fri by 6pm, unless it's inclement weather - then it must be delivered the next day. Many people don't realize this. The carrier is likely being paid for both deliveries, yet only making one and the company has no clue unless you call them to tell them. I hear that all the time in some neighbouring streets. My son is a carrier and does it after school promptly, usually before 5pm b/c some neighbours are VIP's and must receive it promptly (before 6) or else they call the office to complain that they didn't get it on time - yes, even for a free paper, they'll complain. It does keep the carrier honest & responsible :).

I went and got a printer this morning. There weren't many people there, and I only saw one printer, so that worked out well for me.
I got a McCain cake. It was $4.92 at Safeway so it works out that the $5 and the McCain are the same I guess.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Back in the old days you used to get this paper regardless of whether you had paid or not because of the advertisers paying to have their flyer's delivered with it. The delivery people in my area do this too (not deliver to everyone) and I don't really care about receiving the actual paper except during events like this. I just wrote to metro land this morning inquiring about their delivery policy for their supposedly "free community paper."

No newspaper delivery during wet days in Vancouver. Great policy!
No wonder newspapers are in trouble.
As for mtseymourguy's homeless comment: you know what happened to Marie Antoinette when she said "Let them eat cake" after hearing that the people had no bread, don't you - they CHOPPED OFF HER HEAD! You need to be more careful and considerate in your comments. If the economy takes enough of a dive you may yet be joining them.

I e-mailed distribution about the no delivery. They have an automated e-mail saying to call them by phone as the head of distribution is going on holidays. It'll have to wait until Monday before I can call.
Being a former free paper delivery boy myself (Real Estate Weekly and Courier newspaper back in the 80's) I always delivered my papers whether it rained or shined. Delivering the paper was my first job, I pulled a wooden wagon around to deliver in my zone. I think I must have been around 12 back then. I don't think they have kids doing those jobs anymore - as the few times I see the paper getting delivered it's usually some older person (30+).

No scratch cards on location. If you didn't get one in the mail, you're boned.

Which paper lets them deliver the next day if there is inclement weather? Advertisers are paying to get their flyers delivered, so they should be delivered regardless of the weather. Many people don't appreciate getting the flyers after a time limited deal has expired as I have had happened.
As a kid, I delivered the Toronto Star everyday for 4 years. There was no time off for bad weather.

What a drag it was just for Saturday and Sunday this offer. I had spend the weekend helping to take care of a sick relative. Got home Sunday nite after 7pm and found the flyer bag (I live in an apartment building) had a scratched card revealing it was a top winner. Boy that would of come in useful at Christmass.

That's why we always deliver the paper, regardless of the weather.
It's for The Mirror, a free local paper - not a paid subscription. While it's an unspoken policy to allow next day delivery for inclement weather (so we were told), we have never resorted to that option. Instead, my son heads out with a big golf umbrella or dons a rain poncho and off he goes - rain or blizzard. We even provide our own substitute carrier when we go on vacation so as not to miss a delivery - something that the neighbours have come to appreciate.
When he started his route, many of the neighbours didn't even know that the there were 2 deliveries each week - one on Wed & Fri b/c the previous carrier only delivered on Sat morning. That's why it irks us to hear that some neighbourhoods are only getting one delivery (and sometimes late), yet the carrier is being paid for 2.

Went yesterday to Bay/Dundas location. Scratched and won the McCain cake. Cashier said they were out of those coupons so applied an extra $3 discount to my sale item. They were also out of CDN tire money ??! so she discounted it by the tiny amount my purchase would've earned too.
