Hello guys, I was looking through some reviews for fusion, and there was only one signifacant issue that they mention from 2006 model...

In IIHS side impact tests, the Fusion earned a “poor” rating without optional side airbags.

models built after January 2006 added a piece of hard plastic near the gas pedal to reduce the risk of injury to the driver’s right leg in this type of crash.

From the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2006 Fusion earned four stars all around (frontal and side impact); adding side airbags improved front-seat side impact protection to five stars.

So how do I make sure that I have the right model when purchasing? Is it better to pay around $2-3K extra for 2007 model?
and, how big is this problem, or is this something just normal?

i dunno much.. but i have an 08 model and driven in an 07 and i love my fusion :D

i remember getting a great deal... got a fully loaded sports package 2008 fusion... only non fully loaded thing was i got FWD and not AWD.. and i paid $28,000 out the door in nov 07... was a great deal.. worth every penny.. love the fusion...

i say go for it.. and if u have the extra and u feel unsafe with an 06... go for the 07 then

There should be a sticker on the door jamb indicating which month and year the vehicle was built in.

If you don't want to take any chances, buy a 2007 model.
