I just got my new odyssey last month, so far so good. what I only complain (also for Sienna) is American workmanship. It just cannot be as good as Japanese. But I think u just missed a deal time for buying a new odyssey.

2011 Sienna is rumored to go into production in Q1 2010 (http://www.leftlanenews.com/toyota-sienna-2011.html says January). The 2011 Odyssey may not be far behind.

Right now, 2009 Odyssey availability is very limited and the 2010's aren't being sold yet.

I was thinking of buying a 2010 Sienna right now, but I'll probably wait until the 2011 are in the market and hope for a good deal on the 2010 or just go with the 2011. I like the exterior of the Odyssey better, but to get the tinted glass (need it for our kids) it means getting an LX. The price difference between the Sienna CE and Odyssey LX makes the Sienna our choice.

i've heard the odyssey handles well for a mini van.

$3k off and 1.9% finance rate up to 48month.

correct, but factory tint doesn't for front doors. So I need aftermarket tint anyway.

Safety and handling are the major I went for Odyssey.
For price without incentive and features, u should think about Sienna.

$3k off and 1.9% finance rate up to 48month. Through the APA, as of September you can get it for about $2000 off MSRP and pay no admin fee. Plus there's a cash purchase factory incentive of $2500. So the deals are still out there, if you can find them in stock somewhere.

(But for us, the Sienna still comes out at a lower price.)

We have just traded in our 2006 EXL Odyssey with 64Kms. It has performed flawlessly for us without any issues whatsoever. We had initially compared it with the Sienna and found that the driving dynamics of the Odyssey much superior. The Sienna felt tall around corners and the handling seemed less responsive and precise than the Honda.

We had considered an Odyssey again but decided on a Acura MDX instead. If you would like a current Car Cost Canada report, please feel free to pm me and I will forward it to you for review. We had obtained an outstanding quote from the dealer in London if you would like the details.

Best of luck.

I just traded my 2002 Sienna for 2009 Odyseey LX. What i found with Sienna was that whenever i had a issue within waranty, Toyota dealers would treat people like s**t.
If you want Odyseey and live in GTA, let me know. My friend will give you a good deal.

My family has had one since 2006 (first gen new odyssey) and it's been very good. No major problems with anything and it's not bad on gas too. It handles pretty good for a heavy minivan. Compared against the sienna, the honda is heavier yet gets around the same fuel economy.

One thing i found however when riding in my friend's sienna is that the sienna is quieter but that might be due to the tires that come stock on the odyssey.

thanks for all the comments.
so now i must ask as well, which odyssey trim is best bang for the buck?
i'm leaning towards a EX now. and slightly to EX-L.

The EX-L looks to be the best bang for the buck since you get alot more added features over the EX like VCM (shuts off 2 or 3 cylinders when cruising), a moonroof, power driver's seat, heated front seats, leather interior, power tailgate and a backup camera with the screen inside the mirror.

You get all of those extra features for about $4000 more. Of course in the end it depends on what features you need/want.

Check out this website: http://www.odyclub.com/forums/

We have a '06 EXL-RES and the only problem that we had was the A-pipe in the exhaust system. At 2100 rpm the exhaust would resonate so loud that you couldn't stand it. It was replaced under warranty with a new redesigned A-pipe and no problems since. Odyssey is more agile than the Sienna. One advantage of the Sienna is that it comes in AWD. If you can afford it I would go for the EXL more options but cost a lot more too.

In 2007 I bought 2007 model Odyssey LX from the US. It was slightly used just under 3500 miles. I paid 18k (all in US) and GST, PST, and RIV in Canada.

The day I imported, our dollar was just over $1.02.

We are a long time Toyota customers. So before driving either the Honda or Toyota, our hearts were set on Sienna. However, after driving each, we were shocked that we liked the Honda better.

Some of the 2010 Odyssey details are now available at http://honda.ca/HondaCA2006/Models/Odyssey/2010/default?L=E (a lot of the information is still about the 2009 models, though).

The big change for this year is that the LX model is dropped, and the EX has become the "Honda NHL Odyssey SE". :| Price of the 2010 DX is $31,690 ($200 higher than last year), but the prices of the other models aren't online yet.

You can view the 2010 brochure at http://www.hondabrochure.ca/brochureviewer/Odyssey_en

You can see all the prices at http://honda.ca/HondaCA2006/BuildYourHonda/Step1.asp?L=E&ModelName=Odyssey&yr=2010

The jump from the DX model to the SE is pretty big -- over $6000. I wonder why they killed off the LX?!

I am trying to buy a new 2009 honda exl. I found this craigslist ad from a company selling it for $37,200 +taxes called LPauto.ca. That seems like a good deal but they are not a honda dealer and my guess is that they are an auto broker . Has anyone dealt with them and is there any points of caution I should take with these people?

That seems like a good deal but they are not a honda dealer and my guess is that they are an auto broker . Has anyone dealt with them and is there any points of caution I should take with these people? Take a look at their website... they say on there that the vehicles are imported from the US. Honda's policy is that US market vehicles that are imported to Canada no longer have warranty coverage (source (http://www.honda.ca/HondaCA2006/YourHonda/FAQs/Section1.htm?L=E)...the only exception is if the original owner moves from the US to Canada). And besides that, if you ever try to sell your vehicle a few years down the road, you'll probably get a lower price for it than for a similar Canadian vehicle.

If the Canadian dollar was stronger, it may be worthwhile buying a US Odyssey despite those drawbacks...but right now I think it's not worth it.
