This is our first summer at this place and the lawn is really lumpy. I don't mean big (6"+) dips or mounds, but rather small invisible bumps and dips that you can feel when walking on it (like you are about to lose your step).
How to deal with this? Can't exactly go filling the dips with sand unless I feel like feeling for dips with my hand and filling in millions of dips. :(
Also, have some grass that's droopy, as such, won't get cut when mowed and they're getting rather long. Ideas?

Limp grass usually indicates lack of watering regularly but since you haven't been there too long it's possible it' needs fertilizing. Wouldn't hurt to give it some fertilizer now.. To smooth out your ground you need a lawn roller which you can probably rent at any rent-all place.

Its only some spots that are limpy, even after the recent heavy rain. Perhaps even only one type of (thin) grass. I will be doing the fall fertilizer so lets see if that helps.
I hear the lawn roller's bad (compacts soil). But if there's no other solution, I guess lawn roller then aerate the lawn next year?
Thanks.

Aerating and a few heavy waterings might work.

Well the lumps are not going to go away regardless of aerating your lawn or not,, you have to use a lawn roller to smooth it out.
Myself I would wait till spring, roll your lawn first till it's good and smooth, have it aerated and then apply spring fertilizer.
You can still put some fall fertilizer on in September this year though.
