So my parents were looking those Tridel townhomes at that area and I wanted to hear from RFDers to see if thts an "ok" safe area. I know its scarborough and there was a kidnapping down by midland and ellsmere, but I believe tht the kidnapping was provoked and couldve happened anywhere..

But except for those cases, is it overall a good area and community? I just wnt my parents to buy a generally safe and secure area. Would it be a gd investment since its tridel owned?

Thanks guys!

If you want safe, secure, and a good investment, there are better areas of Toronto to buy a condo. Such as North York (Sheppard/Bayview or Yonge/Finch or Yonge/Sheppard) and some areas of downtown.

I never feel safe driving in that area. I lock my doors and don't make eye contact with anyone.

Wow, its really that bad? When I checked it out with them, it seemed like a decent neighbourhood.. Hmm maybe I should tell them not to buy then..

I used to drive past there almost every day and never felt unsafe when driving there even at night. It's not the best area to be sure, but not nearly as bad as Reign portrays IMHO.

Not the greatest area... but not bad. Some spots look a little run down, like those plazas from the 80s and 90s, but some nice new developments.

Hmm, I'm having doubts on the property now a well. I noticed there were a lot of ppl selling but nothing being bought around that area... Maybe its a sign tht its a bad area tht noone wants to live there

Yes! That's what its called! I walk thru it a few times with my parents and it seemed very nice. Neighbours r friendly as well. Its just outside the community tht frightens me

The area is fine no ghetto or anything of real problems nearby.

That being said I think their are better areas to buy that will

a) appreciate better in value
b) be easier to sell
c) cost you more money

Anything from leslie over to Yonge St along the Sheppard corridor would be good to start looking.

P.S. I know my signature shows me in Grimsby but I spent most of my life living in Scarborough until late last year. Went to public school just down the Rd on Ellesmere.

I grew up in Scarborough too, but I've moved away. In fact 1/2 of my friends no-longer live in Scarborough. Perhaps it's a sign of things.
