I don't have any experience on stock trading and looking forward to start doing it on a small scale first with around $1000. I'm looking for some online traders that I can open an account with to provide me with all the real time data for a minimum cost and would appreciate any advice on that. Thanks in advance!

Open an account with a discount brokerage. Questrade is your best bet (http://www.questrade.com/). $4.95 minimum and $9.95 maximum per trade. Also start doing some research on stocks or read books about investing/trading. Go to stock forums and read learn from there too. When I first started I went to:

http://www.stockhouse.com/
I also started with $1000. Soon you will likely realize $1000 is not enough and want to put in more(especially when you have a stock you want to buy but you don't have enough $$ in your account). But playing with real money is a good way to learn and good luck with your selections and research!:D

www.investopedia.com is great for searching words you may not know.
Starting off, I"d recommend you short stocks and go for quick profits. Try not to buy into most stocks when they just climb, but rather when they are climbing.
Also, I'd create a little excel document where you can plug in information really quick. Nice for little hypotheticals.

Be sure to factor in exchange rates, if you dive into the US market.
