View Full Version : Where to get Mutual Fund Account?

I only have about 13k in my RRSP, as I withdrew the max for HBP. I only want Mutual Funds, I currently deal with Scotia, and I find their choice of MF to be rather dismal. I asked the FA at Scotia and she said I don’t have enough to be able to do this (which is fine)
I don’t need advice, I just want to pick my own NO Load funds from various providers.
Where should I do this? I keep reading about these fees if you have less than 25k…so who has reasonable fees?
Thanks!

BMO InvestorLine waives the RRSP administration fee ($50/y) if you have over $15,000 with them. Not sure about other providers.
And most of the banks'll let you open a mutual fund account to buy their own funds with no fees.

You can check out discount brokerage firms...they offer most funds on no load cases but maybe with an upfront commission cost sometimes.
I have review discount brokers in
DIscount Brokers Review (http://financialhighway.com/canadian-discount-brokerage-review-and-comparison/) you might find it helpful.
Also: questrade refunds mutual fund trailer fees which can add up over time, but they charge $9 per purchase....

Oh yea I would highly suggest you look at etfs....much cheaper than the mutual funds and do better.
