I have a banking account with a bank but I cant withdraw money from the machine or use any type of interac. Everything else works fine at the counter and online banking. I've talked to them several times now, telling me they don't know what's wrong, everything should work ok.

I want to open another totally new account with a new account number on the same name at the same bank. Is that possible? Then move the cash over and close the other one. I don't want to ask them to try to fix it anymore because I'm tired of waiting for them to try to resolve it then telling me they don't know what's wrong, giving me the run around.

you can open as many accounts as you like as long as you are prepared to pay any service charges associated with the accounts

Of course. I have 4 chequing accounts with PCF. Of course no fees for any of them.

Also if you are with BMO you can split your banking plan among as many accounts as you want.

You can open as many accounts with a bank as you want. That said, have you replaced your debit card yet? If not, you might want to try that first as it would be quicker and it sounds like a bad chip or stripe might be the issue since it still seems to be working for transactions that don't require contact.

With TD, why not open multiple savings accounts to cut down on your withdrawal fees:

Each account has:
No monthly fees with paperless record keeping.
2 free withdrawals per month.

You could also take money in and out of a money market fund as a means of occasionally transferring money between accounts without paying transfer fees.

mind telling us which bank you're banking at, so others can give you a straight answer.
