Was doing some research for a cheap VPS with linux root access. Most started of at $29.95.

For $119.40/yr (9.95/mo) you get:

BudgetVPS1010 (Plesk)

* Guaranteed 256MB ECC RAM
* 15 GB Partition
* 200 GB Monthly Traffic
* Hardware RAID 10 Configuration
* Enterprise Linux (CentOS)
* Plesk Panel: 1 Domain
* 1 Dedicated IP
* FREE Email Support
* Upgrade to Plesk: Unlimited Domains for US$6/month

If anyone is looking for a dedicated server for private use (possibly an occasional seedbox or file sharing box with family in the States). I personally think it's an OK deal and they're located in Canada.

Can anyone comment or have any experience about the company above?

It almost seems to good.

Canaca's offerings still beat this however, I do believe they're not managed. :mad:

This deal has been going on since April afak. It's not bad, but not great either.

Lack of reviews for the company is slightly worry some. Wouldn't be bad as a dev/test box I guess if you don't trust them right away for mission critical services.

Heard lots of bad things about them. One review had a 'if your lucky you get a 60% uptime'.

Crazy. I'll see if i can jump the gun on this one. Going to do more research.

The uptime with Canaca is just fine. My experience with them for more than 5 years has been 99% uptime or better. However, when something does go wrong, it totally dies. The main problem is that their support people are outsourced to Iran by e-mail. The only way to get something fixed with Canaca is to storm into their Mississauga office.

I wish there was another host but the truth is that other hosts are either much more expensive or their servers are very away. I don't want to be paying $100 a month and be getting a 200ms ping. :mad:
