Budget: $600 + tax (feel free to go over if necessary)

What it will be used for:
- The casual stuff like browsing the internet
- Some MMORPG gaming (I don't need a special graphics card)

What I would like it to have:
- Antec 900 (I just like this case)
- Quad core (I prefer Intel)
- Graphics card must have HDMI (due to monitor)
- Windows Vista Home Prem w/ W7 upgrade

Edit: if anything like processor, etc. is going to go down in price because of new technology coming soon, let me know if I should wait or not.

Thanks everyone!

--- here is what I have so far --- (this is more for me to keep track)

Processor: Q8200 $170 (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115055&nm_mc=OTC-Pr1c3canadaCA&cm_mmc=OTC-Pr1c3canadaCA-_-Processors+-+Desktops-_-Intel-_-19115055)
Motherboard:
Case: Antec 900 $100 (http://www.xpresscanada.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=011391&cid=CAS.664)
Power Supply:
RAM: 4GB $50
Hard drive:
Graphics card:
Opt Drive: anything $25
Card Reader: anything $20
OS: Home Prem w/ W7 $130 (https://www.anitec.ca/product/13217/microsoft_windows_vista_64_bit_home_premium_sp1_ed ition_dvd_version_with_windows_7_upgrade_coupon_oe m)

but I don't know if I necessarily need any of the new stuff coming out. Unless price drops occur on the newer stuff :D

you can get an antec 900 from ncix for around $120 but i got mine for $100 when it was on sale.

You don't need a quadcore for casual gaming. You only need it for video editing etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Dual-core is more appropriate for gaming. You can get a decent e8400 for 190 at ncix as well. I would steer away from an i7 mainly because of the price.

you can get 4gb ram almost anywhere and the average price would be 60-80 bucks.

If you're only gonna play only MMORPG, an average video card would suffice.

If you're gonna play a few games such as COD 4 or something, get an 8800 or maybe even an 8600 (I think you could get these for $40).

If you want high fps no games, then go for a GT250 or ATI 4850.

HARDWARE wise, you can get it at around $400. I have no idea how much an OS would cost, it was years since i bought an OS.

hope this helps. :D

try getting an antec 300 for a case, it's similar to antec 900, not as big, but still plenty of room. and it's a lot cheaper.

Yea I see that it's a lot cheaper but I am willing to pay the premium for the good looks ( I knew I wanted it from the moment I saw it ).

Here's a $700 build (currently priced at 606) and a good discussion about the parts.

Drop the x3 to an x2, and get a cheaper card, and you should be near budget including the Antec 900 and OS.

Athlon II X4's should be out anytime soon also there phenom II's - the L3 cache & are pretty close in speed to the Phenom II's. there should be a 2.5 & a 2.8 hitting the market soon.
