Determining Heat in External HD

I have a WD My Book external HD that's connected to my MBP via USB.

Is there a way to determine the temp like I can for my CPU, internal HD, etc etc.?

You cannot access the drive's internal temperature sensor using a USB (or FireWire IRC) interface.
