I was shopping for food and noticed Loblaws in Markham had Memorex DVD-Rs for $14.99 for 75.

Decent price if you need to buy blanks. There were still about 15 or so when I bought them today.

I bought these on the weekend. 2 months ago they were on sale for about $18.00. No problems with them.

Let's just hope they actually honour these and all the other goodies I managed to order before they shut down the $32 off sale! I do have shipping dates so I am hopeful.

was the 9.99 for 100 a price error?Yesterday Dell had a bunch of stuff at $32 off which made some items, like the DVD-Rs, a very. very good deal. I doubt they planned to sell them at that price...

There's Superstore, which is owned by Loblaw (no S in the parent company), but the ones here in Ontario have different specials than the actual Loblaws or Loblaw Great Foods.

good price if you don't want what you're burning.
Very unreliable.

I'd have to search RFD for same well respected names. There are threads where people debate the best brands. memorex is not among them.
I remember to stay away from these because of their slogan:
"is it live or is it memorex?" I've stared at some many useless memorex discs I've started to wonder "is it live or is it dead?"
I once emailed the company to complain about numerous coasters, they were very good about it, and sent me a free replacement spindal, but the coasters came off it just as quicky as the original, so I just gave up on the brand, it wasn't worth the hassle, with so many others to choose from.

Its just harder to find quality blank media these days (in the CE market). Even Verbatim will give you coasters. Memorex is neither the best nor the worst, just mediocre. The CD-R used to be good, and I'm still using the DVD+RW to backup my files, easy burning and no problem.

Yes, the slogan sucks.

I've used Memorex for years with absolutely no issues. Perhaps it makes a difference what kind of DVD burner you are using them with??

Same here. I've used probably around 500 Memorex DVD-R discs and have had probably at most 5 coasters.

I often buy the printable Memorex spindles because my printer can print on CD/DVD (which is a very nice feature). I can sometimes find those on sale for around $34 for a 100-pack spindle.

I spent a lot of time studying dvd-r discs and their compatibility issues.
There's lots of websites online that will show you which disks go with which companies dvd-r writers.
This is a good site for basic knowledge about disk quality.
