This one is kind of neat. Right now, The Source has a Nexxtech Digital UV Meter for $4.96 (http://www.intactearnings.com/handleclicks.asp?affID=10122&mID=11222&bid=3222&link=www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx%3Faff=IntactEarnings%26language=EN-CA%26ref=2000%26product=6317211).

Previously, this has been on sale for $9.99. At $4.96, this seems kind of hot! For those of you concerned about UV exposure (maybe you burn easily, have fair skin, or just want to watch out for your kids), this seems like a useful gadget.

You can have online orders from TheSource.ca shipped to a local store for pickup at no charge.

You do understand that your body needs sunlight correct? Vitamin D, which you get from the sun, is very important...

Even if you put on SPF 15, you still have to watch timing if out for a long time.

I found it real handy when down south in winter, as it is too easy to lose track of time :D

It is easy to use. It even works against your skin type, which is cool. I bought at $10, and am happy with it.

Can't go wrong for $5, and ship free to your nearest store.

Could be quite useful. Ordered 4 for ISPU. Can't go wrong with $5 each. Thanks OP.

Btw, mine didn't come with instructions so here's a link to the spec sheet that I found for the chip that's used inside that explains the settings a bit better:

I bought a WATCH in their store a while back with a built-in UV meter - for the same $5 price. The original battery died in no time, but since replacement the watch has worked pretty reliably and the meter seems pretty sensitive. I don't really use the feature, but it could be useful for anybody who spends long hours out in the sun. But as the other poster said, be sure to put on plenty of sunblock if you are out in the sun, especially since it finally seems to be breaking through! :)

Has anyone got the meter to actually detect the UV? 3 of us tried it and the UV index is at 0.0. We just pressed the UV On/Off button to supposedly activate UV detection. We tried it in the afternoon with full sun.
