We just took delivery on Friday afternoon of a new 2009 Acura CSX. Royal Blue Pearl with black leather. Base model with automatic.

We *HIGHLY* recommend Acura 2000 in Brampton. Great experience. We dealt with Michael Porco (the sales mgr). Everything was done via phone and email in advance. He didn't ask for a deposit and even refused our credit card number, despite having to get the car via a dealer trade. He also didn't try to upsell anything. Delivery took about a leisurely hour, of which 20+ minutes was spent checking over the car.

The "total on the road" price was $27,968.XX, or $489/month for 60 months (1.9%, zero down). This included $81 for new plates. The car also had globali.com "theft protection" on it. This price was with the $2,000 loyalty rebate, which was easy to get (PM me if you need more details). Car was waxed/detailed and did have the full tank of gas.

Thanks to CCC and urameatball for their help in getting us this deal.
As an aside, a friend signed for a CSX late Friday for $27,900 at North Toronto Acura, but with license fees extra.

Completely agree. It's a tarted up Civic. Or the JDM Civic if you want to split hairs.

The Civic EXL (leather + sunroof) is the exact same price (or more if you add the foglights), so why not pick this and get a slightly nicer version.

there's nothing wrong with a tarted up civic.

enjoy your new car!

They use higher quality control standards on Acuras than on Hondas. So the CSX is better quality than a Civic, even if it looks very similar.

i paid $27K 12 years ago on a 97 EL premium (yes...honda civic)...

10 years later in 2007...i picked up a Outback Premium for 27K...

too bad you couldnt come up with a wack of cash and go down to the states right now...awesome deals right now with the low US$

I guess so. There was no extra fee and I could register the car on the globali.com website. All the stickers were on it.

I think you got a good deal on the price. Why pay for the Civic EX-L in this case.
I was smiling more at the previous poster's comment. In many countries though, there is no Acura, and the Civic contains all the luxury features.

Also don't forget they have different engines. The CSX has the 2L I4 with 155hp while the civic comes with 1.8L 140hp. Not a big difference, but if you're going to pay the same price for the two, why not get the better half?

For everybody who asked me, the August incentives and rates are the same as July for all CSX models.

I'm picking mine up on Satuday - '09 base w/ auto in white.

I recommend Acura in Markham. I had a good rapport with my sales rep, who spent time with me on 3 separate visits (including the day the deal was done).

The deal took about 15 minutes to negotiate (including the back and forth trips to the manager's office).

I think the CCC report helped to make a quick transaction, as the sales rep knew I had it.

Do you mind letting us know what deal you had with them? I was at Acura in Markham last Sat too, but was thinking to check with some other dealers for price comparison.

Care to share the details for the benefit of others?

My sis has an '07.
As much as it looks like a Civic on the inside and out, it drives, handles and feels a lot more upscale.

...karl, whose delivery was super smooth (see my dealer recommendation above)

It wasn't detailed properly, and had some scuffs and a paint chip. Needless to say, I wasn't too happy.

**Note / disclaimer - I am VERY picky about the cleanliness & condition of my cars

The major issue was the paint chip; other items could have been resolved easily through a proper detailing job.

Long story short, I was able to pick a different from their inventory...but had to wait for an extra 5 days to take delivery. It was an uneccessary hassle / inconvenience to deal with.

My advice to anyone would be to inspect very thoroughly, and not to take it for granted that because a car is new that it's in perfect condition. Fortunately, that's what I did.

Other than that, the car is great and hope it treats me well for years to come.

karl - i hope your dealer is paying you royalties.

how's the rebate difference in Sept. than Aug.?

karlb
Sep 8th, 2009, 08:15 PM
$3,500 for cash purchases. This is applied after tax ("Non-stackable Trading Dollars/Factory to Customer Rebate").

Nothing for lease or finance.

Lease and finance rates are now market rates.

So, like Honda, much worse than the last few months.

From the Acura Canada web site, the 2010 CSX only offers tech and Type S packages. 2010 Tech package MSRP becomes the base trim and is at $28,790. 2009 Tech package MSRP is $29,990. Those who wants the 2009 CSX tech trim can consider the 2010 CSX (they are very much the same) and is now cheaper. ;)

Picked up the 2009 CSX base with auto this evening. Everything went smooth. Majority of the function / usage are explained in detail. The product specialist spent almost 1 whole hour on this. (Thanks to Karlb for his info and input.) Yet, I forgot to check with him if there's any break-in for the car. Years ago, I was told it's 3000 km or don't drive over 3000 rpm. Does anyone know about this?:?:

1,000 km break-in period...
drive in various speed, keep it under 4k rpm, avoid hard braking, etc...
enjoy reading the manual!

Only incentive offered on Acura 2010 models I can find is on RDX for $2,000. Yet it's a different type of car than CSX

What if you you went above the 6k rpm, if it was a new car like the civic si?
Would this cause any damage to the engine?

So are there good deals to be had on 2009 CSX with whatever inventory is left?

Would be looking for a CSX with Leather and Tech pacakge - I guess basically what they offer in the 2010 base model (which is everything).

Would it just be wiser to wait a bit until incentives start on the 2010 and grab that since the MSRP is cheaper as well?

Once, twice? Not a huge deal. All the time and/or for prolonged periods, before you have at least 2000km on the clock? Not a great idea. Nothing might happen but on the other hand don't be surprised to see that your car has issues like relatively high oil consumption...

This should be outlined in your owner's manual as the other post alluded to.

shouldn't be a big problem... just don't stay in the rpm for prolong period... Look at those demo cars, people are redlining them when just get off the transport truck... So, i won't be worry too much about serious engine damage, but rather possible oil consumption down the road if the rings didn't seat properly. Also, if you rev it high during break-in period, just change the oil early!

I'm under the impression that it's hard to come by around GTA area. The $3500 incentive may be a tactics to lure customer to try on the new 2010 CSX.

Few dealers ordered them. It wasn't worth the extra cost.

Because it was overpriced and Acura finally accepted that fact. In it's class it was underpowered and outclassed by just about everything.

Even with the price drop, I doubt I'll see many CSX Type-S on the road. But it does make it a lot more affordable compared to before.

sup edgar,
the csx-s is really quite affordable now, but it still lacks a LSD that the Si comes standard with. Leather seats, meh!

The CSX-S uses the same underpinnings including the helical limited-slip differential that is on the Si.

On a few occasions when my car was in for service @ Acura in Markham, I was given one of the loaner CSXs they had. It's a fairly nice car, I especially like having the usb connectivity, something even my Lexus doesn't have. Definitely not the most powerful car, but it's more than enough to get you around the city.

One huge gripe I had with the car was the uncommunicative steering and vague road feel. The steering was so numb and felt disconnected with the wheels and the road.

I'm not a fan of the Civic/CSX two-tier dash though. It would be nice to try out the CSX-S, that car is probably more planted and more fun to drive.
