Decent deal on the DSi bundle.

Unfortunately the other side of town means $10 of gas to get there and back.

wow... the only problem is what time do you have to line up to actually get one of the Wii? Nice deal but not worth HOURS of my time...

On a side note what is the proper pluralization of Wii... Wiis?

It says they have 100 of these bundles available. Can't really see people lining up if that's the case.

Unless the 100 figure is chainwide...?

It was about a 5 minute line up, but I picked up Wii + Mario Kart for $229 at Zellers (new Scarborough location only) this morning. Deal was $239 less an in-store $10 coupon that was being handed out. At the cash register, they also gave me a $10 HBC gift card to be used on a future purchase.

They were handing out alot of $10 in-store coupons which are good until Aug 21st. So basically, I could use this $10 coupon with the $10 gift card (and use another $30 in HBC gift cards my wife had got on another promotion), and I've got $50 off my next purchase at Zellers (Wii Resort, here I come). That said, Zellers would generally be far off my list in terms of stores to get gaming stuff.

P.S> The Wii deal is over at Zellers now... Also, be warned that if you want to check this Zellers today, the Zellers distribution centre union is staging a strike protest in front of the grand opening... There seems to be no end to strikes this summer in the GTA.

There is a guy in the electronics department taking names & numbers down for a waiting list for the Wii bundle. Not sure when the next shipment will come in or whether they will actually honour the discount.

Here's my story...

Based on the advertisement posted in this thread, I had assumed the grand opening was for 11am (yes, stupid me... it was the facepainting that starts at 11am). So I got to the store 15 minutes after 8am to line up for the Wii. To my dismay, I found out the store actually opened at 8am and all the tickets for the Wii were already gone.

So I roamed the aisle and found two gentlemen who looked like they were managers. I went up to them and told him about the misleading times found on the advertisement and asked if anything can be done to get a Wii. Well, it turns out I was face to face with the President of Zellers (Mark Foote). He apologized to me about the confusion and he admit the advertisement was very misleading. He took down my name and number and told me he will have the Head Office arrange to have the exact bundle sold to me at another Zellers store.

This afternoon, I got a call from another store informing me the bundle is there for me to pick it up.

Now, THAT's what I call excellent customer service and I'm so glad I bumped into the President on my way out the door emptyhanded.

That's a cool story rvs007... Not only did you get your deal, but that sure beats dealing with the customer service desk with any complaints.

Inside my bag I found three boxes of chocolates, a bag of cotton balls and a box of cold patches for muscle aches...kind of a weird mix

Anyway, thanks to OP for posting...was able to pick up a Wii bundle...but they wouldn't let me use the $10 savings card that they were giving away at the door.

When I was chatting it up with the President, I asked him what's the deal with the strikers outside. He said they are workers from the distribution plant and have been on strike for a few weeks.

While you're playing your Wii, you can snack on the chocolates. Then you can use the cotton balls to wash the stains off the controllers. The patches are for when you play so much that your muscles ache. ;)

That is excellent. Good for you!

I still remembre that at the time Best Buy refused to honour the $20 BenQ DVD burner a few years ago, BB's customer services was aweful. Maybe they can change the name to Worst Buy.

Not only did he gave you a deal, you only had to wait a few hours for the call. Mr. Foote belongs on the RFD hall of fame. :)

Ya, wow, I didn't expect that from Zellers. Maybe they are finally waking up and turning a new leaf. Zellers to me has always been an after thought when it came to where to shop - "Plan C" as their stores seemed old, dumpy and seemed to lack any care when it came to "customer service". My buddy used to say ... "Zellers is a Price Error away from filing for Bankruptcy." Let's hope that they actually start to compete with Walmart.

I went to this new Zellers yesterday and wasn't impressed. I was hoping it would have a larger grocery section, including fresh produce. I'll continue on Eglinton Ave. E. to Walmart Superstore and do the majority of my shopping there.

+1. I was so suprised to see Zellers hasn't learned anything in retailing/merchandising now that competition is so fierce. It was like going back into a Zellers from 1996.

They even had the gull to put in the flyer FREE COFFEE from Aug 6-9. Then when we went to Country Style stall, there was a sign that said only available to the first 500 customers. What a pathetic joke ...
