View Full Version : Games Xbox 360 120 GB HDD, $65.99 @ Gameyeeeah

Gameyeeeah is offering a pretty sweet deal, IMHO on 360 memory, 120GB Hard drive for 65.99 USD not including shipping.
(includes data transfer kit)

If that wasn't good enough then hear this, they also offer an e-mail coupon code for 5% off all orders over $50 USD.

(I'll post it later just in case its a per person code)
If it works for all then the price is bumped down to 62.69 USD + Shipping.
Doesn't hurt that all their products come with a 6 month warranty either.

Tack that onto your free xbox console of August's deal and i'd say its not halfbad. What do you say RFD'ers, 'cause i'm always waiting and ready to hear those honest opinions.

Not bad. How much is shipping? This might be a good deal for all those people picking up used 360 from EBGames.

Dealextreme sells the 120gb for $62.04 /w shipping but no data transfer kit.
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.21431
Their transfer kit costs $8.38 and up.

I hear that you can get the transfer kit for free by calling microsoft though.

DealExtreme has some kind of cryptic message going on:

This is not the genuine as we clarify early 2 days, we've found out that Microsoft Xbox 360 doesn't has the 120GB hard disk drive, this is due to the wrong info the supplier provided and we didn't check it modestly, we sincerely apologize for this inconvenience caused.
For the customer who placed the order before this announcement posted, we will contact you within 24 hours and offer a solution.

My decoder ring tells me they meant to say it's not a genuine MS HD, but who really knows. Can anyone confirm what the deal is with the Gameyeeeah (what a stupid name) drive?

DO NOT BUY!

I personally had a terrible experience with Gameyeeeah. I had purchased an R4 from them about a year ago...the site had amazing ratings for some reason...i guess i just had bad luck, but they had sent me a faulty R4 that didnt work. On top of that, I was billed custom fees...so i had to pay an additional $30 on top of my purchase. I had contacted Gameyeeeah and they said they wouldnt offer a refund, just an exchange...but I would have to pay another $20 to ship it back to China. I decided just to buy a R4 off another site...I was not going to pay more for Gameyeeeah. Has anybody else had any bad experiences with this site as well???

The image implies that it's a real Microsoft drive. Same images as Amazon.com. I still wouldn't trust that though.

IMO, this is too good to be true. I found another 120gb on froogle.com, for $77 USD, free shipping to Canada, and canceled when I realized that it wasn't a legit drive.

I still can't understand why Microsoft forces people to use specific hard drive sizes and SKUs.

Upgrading my PS3 hard drive to a 500 gig Seagate was super easy and I never have to worry about getting banned from anything.

Agreed, it's such a pain. But the 360 does seem to be doing better than the PS3 right now in terms of general sales and adoption. Microsoft just knows how to extra $$ out of their user base.

(not a fanboy here, I own all three major consoles and love them all (well, I might love the Wii stepchild just slightly less :P )

Yeah PS3 is so open and friendly which has lead to their current COD 4 hacking/cheating problems which have been all over gaming news. So you gain one thing and loose another thing. Personally I hate the prices of the MS hard drives but I prefer a closed system that way there is less room for cheating/hacking, I know it happens on 360 but not to the same extent.

Among me and my friends and all are orders Honjey, you're the 1st i've known to have a negative experience, that really sucks. As for customs, it depends on who you choose as your shipper, FedEx WILL cost you while DHL did not cost me anything extra arrived in 3 days.

As for your R4, you probably got a hold of the bad batch around September of last year when they were switching over from the originals to the 3rd party rips which were much cheaper but prone to failure.

As for the naysayers,
3rd party NEW does not = Hacked/flashed, Datel has also been let into the 360 circle of memory units with there micro sd based one.

The deal for the dealextreme is a 3rd party refurbished one without the data transfer kit.
I like speed so if i order with DHL/ Game yeeeah (yeah the name is lame, but meh) then i'll get it friday/saturday or monday at very latest.

Yeah I have all three too. It's annoying that MS has a proprietary hard drive, proprietary wifi and proprietary memory cards. The 360 came out in 2005. I'm guessing that the next system will be more modular and less proprietary.

I think BC on gaming was a HUGE step for them so unless microsoft stops nickle and dimeing people, i don't think they'll offer it anytime soon. This'll be my 2nd 360.

I purchased one off ebay about a year ago. It seems that a lot of 120gb 360 hd's being sold on ebay are black "elite" models. I suspect the one I purchased was a knock-off made in china, but it worked no problems. At the time, there seemed to be quite a bit of "elite" hd's on ebay. I couldn't imagine that all these hd's were pulled from elite systems. Pretty much figured that the black hd's were the knockoffs.

nope I don't think so...I buy items from the chinese suppliers all the time. The key is to buy from vendors that have thousands of feedback entries. Not the one or two time vendors. In fact pretty much everything I buy on ebay comes from china.

where do you think all these items come from anyway? lol

If it was a genuine M$ HD, there would probably have been some packaging or something with it. The guy is in Hong Kong and makes no mention of it being a genuine drive. There's no doubt that the casing is real. That doesn't make it a genuine XBOX drive.

It is completely possible/likely that they just swapped out a 20 gb and put in a 120 gb drive. People do that on their own all the time, its only natural that someone would mass produce them and sell them.

no doubt it could be a repackaged 20gb...but that ebay listing is an agent of a factory, that's how that sort of vendor works.

they also call it a new Microsoft drive, no repackaged, aftermarket, etc. While you may be skeptical about the vendor and I don't blame you, stores like that are quite specific when selling knockoff or third party product of some sort. They don't get to 60,000 feedback 99.7% by fluke or by scamming :)

I know what the HD looks like, I purchased one off ebay a while back.

Obviously we can't be sure either way. Didn't mean to bad mouth the purchase. Just saying in my experience, these drives can be knock-offs. In any case, it doesn't matter either way, because the drives work, and I have yet to hear of a confirmed case of xbl banning because of a HD. Either way, all that matters is that you got the drive for 1/2 of what they go for in store, and that's what matters. This is RFD after all :)

Strip out the HD from your current XBOX HD assembly. Connect it to your PC. Perform backup or imaging.

Or buy an overpriced mem card and transfer some content over (saves, profiles, etc).

Datel MAX memory 360, uses micro sd/memory card adapter, so you can back up data on a pc. They sell it at futureshop, if you're in toronto they may have other retailers who carry Datel/intec products which serve the same purpose.

This is probably the easiest method.

yea that's a good rule of thumb. Many games vary in size so it's not a hard and fast rule. Some of the art and stuff can blow up to like 10gb uncompressed but on the disk it's only 6gb...that sort of thing. Here's a great list,

or this,

can anyone tell me if the data transfer cable MS sends out comes in that blister pack with the CD? I need the CD and not sure if it's a bundle.

be advised that after the new dashboard update the file sizes will be smaller. I think the update is on the 11th, that is if you didn't get accepted into the preview :D

I got into the beta, and some games should install 1-2GB leaner.

They install lighter because redundant game and security data is removed. Games that fully use the disk (around 6.8GB) tend to already have that fat cut, so the install should be the same. For example GTA4 went from 6.8 to 6.5GB.

I think people have said that this 120gb hdd has gone on sale before for 50% off. If anyone knows when/where this was and could drop some knowledge in here that'd be great!! Thanks...

it was at EB if you bought a used game for $19.99+ then you can get any used accessory 50% off so it would cost ~$110 (taxes in) for the used 120gb HDD + used game

Ah yes, I've seen that promo before...can't remember how recently they've done it though. Thanks for the tip!

I asked EB about that, and it's $50. I saw them on Ebay yesterday for about $30. I need one too, but I'm considering the 120gb....don't know if I want to spend $80-$100 on that though. But...at $30-$50 more, it's 6 times the storage...ahh dang...the money pit that gaming is lol. If you use the SPC deal thingy, you can get $10 off, so $90 at Bestbuy for the 120gb. Not sure about 20gb.

Next gen consoles better not hit until 2020 lol

Hey guys just a warning friend of mine ordered one but when he turned it on right away it had RROD error. When he called them they said most of the consoles are refurbished.

I received my HDD recently I bought from dealextreme about 3 weeks ago, everything works fine, but the drive has chinese words on it when looking up storage in xbox 360... I suspect Gameyeeah's are probably the same kinda stuff... the case does not have 120GB on it, just HDD.

Haven't tried it on live, not usually on it, but I must say I'm weary with the weird chinese words... I'll update when I get a chance to go on live.
