Hi, I was looking into getting a 2005 bmw 325xi with low mileage (around 60k km). The bmw manager quoted me $25 000 taxes included. I just purchased a full carproof report and found these icbc claims:

Type of Claim, Amount Paid, Nature of Payment

COLLISION, 1399.41, REPAIRS

GLASS, 753.56, REPAIRS

COLLISION, 2980.03, REPAIRS

COLLISION, 1108.66, REPAIRS

THEFT FROM VEHICLE, 1004.65, REPAIRS

GLASS, 711.30, REPAIRS

COMPREHENSIVE, NO DETAILS, NO DETAILS

After seeing this I`m a little skeptical but looking at the price, I think it`s still a bargain. What do you guys think for that price, is it still worth getting?

Would you ever buy a can of worms?

I'd like to think, NO ...

I think I would stay away.

Even if those damages could just be from minor fender benders, it doesnt look like the owner took great care of the car and so there might be underlying problems that you would be unaware of...

just my 5 cents...

$15000 maybe.

definitely stay away...all those collisions make me wary of how bad the driver is...

on a side-note, this might be my friend's BMW. She is notorious for getting into fender benders and she drove a BMW. I am so surprised she is still in one piece and her insurance rates are through the roof!

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is an E46 BMW 325 worth 25k even if it didn't have all that suspicious stuff in the carfax report? For that price you should be looking at an E90.

I wouldn't ever buy a BMW, but especially not that one.

When you said "the BMW manager quoted me," my first thought was why would a BMW dealer be certifying and selling this car? Given the bad history, I would think a dealer that has this on trade in would put it to auction and be done with. I would definitly take a pass on this car at that price.

if the manager did not disclose its a vga, i'd be super pissed, and yes, run away.
A car like that is worth 15k max.

Never in a bazillion years. Stay far away but give the BMW store guy the opportunity to explain how he neglected to share these nuggets of info...

I think what a lot of folks don't realize is how hard it is to find a excellent used car. Most used cars have had some work done on it, but in many cases, the original owner or the dealer selling the used car don't disclose it. There are so many cars that show up with perfect insurance claims record, but in reality, the owner paid out of pocket. There are actually very few used cars that are in excellent condition.

But a clean sheet means that even if a collision occured, the police didn't have to be called (vehicle still mobile) and the damage was inexpensive enough for the owner to pay out of pocket. Generally, of course.

if I were op, take a trusty mechanic and friend who know bmws. Inspect it thoroughly. Check the frame to see if its dog legged. If it isn't straight, its very unsafe. Make sure every single thing is working, so that repair shops don't skimp out and splice & dice wires together.

I've seen an ad 2006 330i for $20k before tax some lot on finch between keele and steeles. Don't know if its still there, but probably a repaired salvage or recovered car.

for 2005 325ix I'd pay a little more and get a non-accident car, who knows when down the road the welding on the repair may go and drop an axle while you drive. Check out dupont auto centre in the west end. They have a lot of bmw cars. I'm not affiliated with them, as I'm a fellow rfder looking to get a bmw as well.

This is why Carfax/Carproof reports are a good idea before purchasing a car!!!
