Deal's Gap is a stretch of road between North Carolina and Tennessee. It has numerous corners and is a huge draw for motoring enthusiasts.

I got pulled over for doing 70mph in a 55 in Graham County,, NC (speed trap), but not on the Gap itself. The fine itself is $30, with $121 in court costs. I don't mind paying, but I would fight it if it will appear on my record in Ontario. If I fight it, I would have to hire a local lawyer, possibly at a huge cost.

I've read a few threads here about reciprocal agreements and Ontario does have one with North Carolina, however, there is some doubt whether or not info is sent up (New York and Michigan have automated systems) whereas other States do it manually or something.

Can anybody shed light on this matter? As long as I pay the fine in time, do they bother sending the info to Ontario?

Check the state's ticket fighting costs, and forums, maybe there is a way to weazel out of it.

North Carolina wont send that info to Ontario as long as you pay it. If you don't pay it you'll have your license suspended at renewal until you do.

It will not show up on your Ontario driving record regardless though. As far as I know only New York and Michigan have an agreement with Ontario to share infraction information.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards paying, but I will explore all the options first. I have a little bit of time.

I'll think of it as a toll for using such fine roads here.

Long time ago in 1999 I got a ticket in Wyoming for $280 which in Canadian founds where almost $400. After I traveled in US for almost one month I received a letter that my license is suspended in that state and to reinstate my license I have to pay $40. I said in my mind to them GO TO THE HELL because the license was issued by Ontario and they could not suspend.

North Carolina doesn't have a reciprocal agreement with Ontario as far as I know. Only Michigan and New York.

I read something about this on the MTO website 2 yrs back. I got a speeding ticket in Pennsylvania and Delaware which I paid and nothing has shown up since in terms of points. Also plenty of parking tickets in Cali recently which I hope don't get me.

I hope they do.
So what, someone in California can park wherever they want and not suffer the consequences? Therefore, you should have to pay too, I don't know what you're thinking on that one.

Dragon, Hellbender, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge and other miscellaneous roads. The Dragon was good, but not my favourite - too repetitive.

I recommend that anybody with a nice handling car make the trip down here. Very fun and will test your skills.

I'd like to see you try down here when driving a sporty car. Almost impossible.
Not saying it's right, but show me a person who doesn't speed at least a little bit and I'll show you a bad driver.

If you drive a "Sporty Car" on a regular basis, it shouldn't be a thrill to go speeding in tight corners and weeving in and out of cars on the 401.
No, you didn't mention that, but I'd pretty much the two side by side.

You wanted the fun, pay the price. I don't drive in Miles but from what I Googled that's a good 30+KM ...
That's enough in my books.
