Insurance Claim

I was involved in accident and i fought my ticket thru lawyer. Lawyer is saying that you can also claim for medical and caregiver benefit? As it was my fault my insurance is going to be increase, so lawyer is saying that there is nothing wrong in the claim and he will get lumsump amount of money thru insurance?

So if i do so, how it will impact my insurance and/or credit hisory or any other way?
