View Full Version : Where do I go in GTA for a real transmission oil flush, not just a drain and refill?

Hello Guys,

Can anyone recommend a quality shop in GTA where they can perform a real transmission oil flush (using one of those sucking machine), rather than a simple drain and refill?

Also any ideas how much is the labour gonna cost? (excluding the cost of the transmissoin oil).

Your opinions are appreciated. :D

Actually you don't want to get a "flush" where they use "one of those sucking machine" LOL. That sounds more like a reverse flush which is a bad idea. You want to do a forward flush and honestly the best place to do this in the GTA is in your driveway. Get a big 20L bucket of trans fluid plus perhaps another 4L bottle (depending on your trans capacity) and drain the fluid yourself and change the filter. Then refill the trans with whatever the manual says is the proper fill for a pan drop/drain; then remove the cooler return line to the trans case and position it in your drain pan and start the vehicle. As the fluid is forced out through the return cooler line, add more fluid so as not to let the trans go dry and wait for about a full fill's worth of fluid to flush out and then stop the car. Then reconnect the return line and ensure the trans has enough fluid in it and restart and check the level. Fill to the appropriate level.

You will also need a few empty containers (I suggest empty windshield washer jugs) to pour the old fluid into as you do this process.

To determine how much fluid you'll need it's pretty simple. Say your trans drain/refill is 8L and the capacity is 13L. Well ideally you need 8L just to refill the trans and then you'll want to flush out 13L. Draining the trans to start will get out as much of the old fluid as possible but then you'll be mixing the new 8L with 4-5L of the old stuff still in the trans (the stuff that doesn't drain out). So if you flush about 13L out you're pretty much getting everything of the old out along with the new you've mixed in. As you flush you're pouring in new stuff and the total after that should be the trans capacity which will be around 10-13L as well. In the end you're gonna have a lot of waste trans fluid but you'll be assured to have all new fluid in there :)

Instead of the other 4L of regular trans fluid I suggest you buy about 6L of synthetic and use that to fill the trans up after you've already reconnected the line (so as not to be throwing expensive synthetic fluid out). The reason I say half is because the full 13L at $8-$10 can get expensive. Again of course that amount depends on your trans capacity.

It depends on how much mileage you have on the vehicle. If it's a relatively new car with say 60,000 on the odometer, then you can do the complete flush safely. However, if it's an older car and you have high mileage on it, doing the full flush will do more harm than good. In this case, just do the simple drain, replace filter, refill with fresh fluid.
