Hi,

I bought a new Toyota matrix in 2007 and have been taking it to the dealership at the scheduled times for services. Every six month, I am supposed to do oil change, which costs $48 and yearly full checkup costs about $180. This schedule and costs are reasonable? Is this yearly checkup necessary for almost new cars? If so, is it worth getting it looked at at a dealership? I am assuming services at dealership is more expensive but I maybe wrong. I had a old beater before and I did change oil but I did not bother with maintenance.

Thanks!

....I'm speechless.

I love helping, I love RFD, I enjoy giving my $2.50 on problems and issues...BUT COME ON!!

Did you NOT try the "SEARCH" button first?

Maintenance is based on mileage for most parts, fluids are based on poorly you drive (quick start and go, no warming of engine, etc.)

Dealerships are the absolute highest price you'll pay unless it's included in your car purchase.

After two years, air filter should've been changed twice at least, cabin air filter, fuel filter might be something to consider, if your mileage is up there...tranny fluid drain and fill, that is it a toyota matrix power train is reliable and many owners do a lot less and get good life out of them...but extra care now pays off later.

Every manufacturer has their scheduled service, and for me, its something I consider when buying a car.

For me, I change oil, air filter when needed, fuel filter annually, compartment air filter annually, serpentine belt and tranny service @ 160k, antifreeze when strips indicate, and fuel when the gauge gets to the E.

Well, filters and oil change....mmm...lubrication and tire rotating.
2 year old Toyota Matrix doesn't need special treatment.
Several filters u can easily replace by urself.
engine oil filter, air intake filter, cabin air filter and fuel filter.

Engine oil filter=whenever you replace engine oil
Air intake filter=u can check(dirty-->replace..easy!~)
Cabin air filter= every 10-12K km (suggested)
Fuel filter=Once a year (every 15k)

Oil cahnge= do urself...not too complicated...(engine oil typically $10)

Lubrication=Once a year... doors, fans..etc..

Tire rotating=every 12k (suggested)

Don't spend money too much.. Save money for later...;-)
