I saw Magellan Roadmate 1200 GPS for 65.00 at Canadian Tire. They were on clearance. Is this a good price? How does it compare with the Tom Tom one at Tiger direct for 69.00

I'd say it's hot too, Magellan know their stuff. Although I do like the UI for the IGO I am running.

I found it at 111 Rylander Blvd, Scarborough which is near by to the port union driving test centre.... Actually i bought one just now. They have 3-4 in stock. I asked about the return policy as was not sure how good is this.

I'm on my second Magellan GPS. The only downside to Magellans is the additional costs for new maps. But for the price you can't go wrong!

THANKS OP!
Got one of these at Leslie/Lakeshore Area. They have about 15units. All you need is go to the customer sevice area; ask them to Price Match Rylander CT (Scarborough East ) store number 427 for $64.99--they will see that on their PC. A friend did the latter on St. Clair West with no problems (though he went to the Auto Department then Customer Service for the PM).
Opened it as soon as I got out the store and works fine! Looks like its loaded with 2008 MAP with many POI <-- few POIs on default but can check more under user options!

Ask them to PM Store 427 (111 Rylander CT Scarborough East ) for $64.99--seems like the only store at this price with only few remaining units. Next cheapest was $79.99 from Leslie/Lakeshore where everyone else have it as $99 to $129.99!

It did have CDN map used the POI to go Price Choppers; Dominion (METRO) and back home. :)

Indeed, want to suggest fellow RFDers to get them to another store for PMing--keeping Rylander on their inventory? :)

Whitby has them on for $129 but none in stock. They said Bowmanville has 14 and they will price match other stores IF the other store has them in stock. Might phone Bowmanville.

I'd say pretty good for $65 unit! It's comparable to a friends Nuvi 205 in terms of re-routing and function. Haven't experienced probs on re-routing that others (posted on other sites); but maybe 'cause of the newer firmware. Just like other GPS, can customize POIs (i.e. METRO groceries are still called Dominion; but addresses and phone numbers are accurate) :)
A minor gripe is when entering postal/zip code--it defaults to numbers (US) rather than Alphanumeric kaypad--but that's minor considering you can access the the latter in one touch.

Does anyone know when the unit is charged? If I plug it to my PC via USB, there's no light for indicating any charge.

PM refused at Centerpoint and Dufferin/Finch, claiming that they do not PM other CTs (not competitors). I was told off by them that if I wanted to get one at that price, then I have to go to the Rylander location to get it.

Can't seem to see it either; though I drained the power and left it on USB for 10 minutes--was able to use the unit later for a couple of minutes.
Though you can view it charging via User Options, System Settings using the car adapter.

Sorry to hear that; this deal YMMV for sure.

it is not bad. but you get what you pay for. it looks like it doesn't have reliability.

just picked up the 1212 at ct glendale st.catharines , only had it one day but am very impressed. they are 89. there , had several in the case and some 1200's as well. don't think you can expect anything more at this price. completes addresses much quicker than either my tom tom or my garmin and has text to speech and some sort of lane guidance in split screen.

I love my 1212. Bought it last year and now would like to get the Spring 2009 Maps Update.... but it is kind of costly.
