At least they allow you to pay this in the ticket now, Moncton used to be a payment before you walked through security, they got with the times and now it's included in the price.
However, as I have always said, shouldn't the airlines be the ones improving the Airports? After all, it is them doing business in them!

Sorry but this is sleezy
it's still somewhat a good price
but to market it as $9 and then it skyrockets to $60 almost, that's just sleezy!
It's offensive!

Still seems like a great deal even though the rest of the charges are almost $100 in taxes, fees and surcharges for one person. I booked a flight in August anyway so now it's just time to find a room. Thanks, OP.

This reminds me of last year's (or the year before) $11 deal, AC matched WJ's price, after taking out discounts such as no cancellation, no checked baggage and no aeroplan points, you literally get paid to fly :cheesygri (before taxes and fees of course)

Why is it deceptive? The ad says it is not available on all flights. Just because it doesnt meet your schedule, doesnt make it deceptive.

I'd normally agree with you, but in this case, all of the other amounts that make up the rest of the $50+ are fees and taxes which are imposed on the airlines and which they can't control. The $9 that they do see doesn't even pay for the fuel, let alone the staff and equipment.
When you think about it, do you really think that, other than a contest, you could get from Montreal to Toronto in under 2 hours for less than $100?
I suppose they could market it for $60, but that would lessen the transparency of all of the parts of the fare. Don't you think that more information is better (at least you have the option of knowing it or tossing it)?
If you still feel this way, you should also be offended at FS's (or any other retailer really) advertising a TV for the price of $499 when it should be $720 to account for the tax, environmental levy, and shipping costs.
But when it comes down to it, $9 fare or $60 total, it's a steal of a price.

Promo code doesn't seem to be working anymore.
Also, I can't seem to get $9 for departure anymore. The lowest there is, is $39 within 28 days.
Is it just me? or is anyone else experiencing this as well?
I would like to take a plane to montreal instead of driving down there.
*Edit* Sorry, I just tried again and the only date was July 26th for $9 departure.

Almost but not quite. Of the $59.50 total cost from Toronto to Montreal, the $25 AIF (Airport Improvement Fee) and $4.67 ATSC (Air Traveller's Security Charge) are airport imposed. West Jet has no choice but to charge this. However, the $18 Nav-Ins fee is an Airline surchage and pays for things like Insurance costs or anything else West Jet wishes. The rest are the regulart GST/PST taxes.
And a round trip to Montreal from Toronto is $115 with this deal, not less than $100.
That said, anyone who does not think this is an excellent deal for air travel is smoking crack ;)
Edit: And what's with people stressing over saving 10% off a $9 ticket? That's 90 cents people! Talk about obsessive...
