I don't know why I went from firefox 3.0 to 3.5, but it's garbage! Mozilla promised be it would be faster, grrr...
Anyways, whenever I open a normal link, sometimes it gives the "web page can not be displayed" stuff, and I have to refresh to get the page to open. This even happens on youtube. It's not the site, the site if perfectly fine, but it just won't open first try until I refresh. I never had any problems with opening web pages before on firefox 3.0.
Apparently other people are having this problem as well (source: quick google search).
Anyone having this problem or any other problems with firefox 3.5?

nope. My FF 3.5 is working silky smooth. In fact, I'm very pleased with the performance boost and it is noticeable.
The problem with 3.5 is that it breaks the support with a lot of add-ons. It could be that some of your add-ons are causing the problems. Have you tried surfing on safe mode for a while to isolate add-ons being an issue?

performance "Boost" is not noticeable at all, 3.0 and 3.5 feel relatively the same except for some very very minor changes i've actually noticed - not bad but not epic either

I am having this problem since I installed 3.5.
I thought its Robbers cable problems or some proxy servers.
So I just refresh it again and it works. Nice to know the problem exists.

+1, Just a few add-ons I had won't work, but no big loss.

doesn't seem any faster to me.
major prob i'm having is opening multiple tabs at once. 3.5 seems to not be able to handle that as well as 3. on 3, I could open my tabs and they will all load and I would be able to access them right away. Now on 3.5 ff will freeze for a bit while they all load before I can start browsing.

Try saving your profile folder to somewhere then deleting it and opening firefox again this will create a new profile. You can then import your bookmarks from the saved profile. You will find the profile, in vista :C\users\username\appdata\roaming\mozilla. In XP :C\users\username\application data\mozilla.

I agree. For all the hype I don't see any difference. And I'm *shocked* that my plugins are once again broken. A FireFox release that doesn't break a plug-in? That's unpossible!
C'mon developers shift over to Chrome and ditch this mess of a browser.

Firefox always was total rubbish and over hyped memory eatter with bug ridden plugins. Maxthon is way better.

FF 3.5 is a beta for pete's sake. The first thing one needs to do whwn trying a FF beta is ensure they do so without using their old profile and the easiest way to do that is as I suggested.
The extensions and even themes you are running in 3.0 are likely not compatable, and though firefox checks for this and dissables any it sees as possible trouble there is always the potential for trouble with addons and other settings within your profile. Back it up, delete it then try the beta.

So it isn't a beta, been so used to using the nightly builds, the latest being 3.6. Anyway advice is still sound. If you are having some problems then do a new profile after you backup your old one from which you can reinstate your bookmarks.

I have no issues with FF 3.5.
Chrome was nice, but lacks smooth scrolling so I ditched it.
IE I will only use if necessary as I don't want to use a browser so tightly integrated with the OS.

Extensions are the responsibility of the extension writer not firefox. It is up to them to update or forget about their extensions.

I would highly recommend Opera. I started using it 2 or 3 years ago and can't imagine going back to another browser.

I agree, Opera is silky smooth, hell I am using the beta of 10 and its pretty much never has given me any problem in the couple of months I have been using it.
Now Firefox, too many people are followers, we are trained to be followers and so when others say it is the greatest browser in the world, many people will say the same thing but it has always been a piece of....
Actually don't follow what I say either you have your own minds think what you want.

Really? Because FF uses like 250mb with a handfull of tabs open.
There's no need for it to be using that much IMO.

Uses about 120 mbs on mine with 7 tabs open and a dozen or so extensions in vista. You may have something conflicting with it a toolbar, spyware, or whatever. It uses 75 mbs in SUSE linux, same extensions tabs etc.

FF 3.5 doesn't seem any different than 3.0.11. I did have to find alternatives or updates to two of my extensions, but that's fine.
It does break the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant extension, which is a good thing.

Memory leak is gone but instead, every few minutes my CPU spikes to 100% then goes back down, and this is one for Firefox, everything else responds and FF doesn't respond for a few seconds. It's getting really annoying...
3.0.xx worked really well, argh I shouldn't of upgraded....

Wait...I have noticed my CPU gaining speed and then dropping when watching video streams. Then again, it does it when I don't watch too. Are you saying this is Firefox's fault? I thought it was just the CPU.

I like Opera but it is not as customizable as FF.

Try saying that 3.5 isn't an upgrade to a web developer, and you'll realize how wrong you are. 3.5, for starters, added support for the Canvas tag along with a slew of HTML5 tags.
In layman's terms, it means you can now do awesome stuff like this:
http://experiments.instrum3nt.com/markmahoney/ball/#
without the use of Flash, which is HUGE for web developers.
Personally, I don't care what the hell anyone here uses. But to stay on an outdated version of a browser makes you a tool. It also hinders the expansion of the web.
(More awesome Canvas applications can be found here: http://www.chromeexperiments.com/)

I heard it's best to do a fresh install of Firefox 3.5 instead of upgrading it from an earlier version.

Maybe those of you experiencing problems are not spyware free?

Anyone else have a solution to this time out issue as I tried deleting the profile as a previous poster said, but am still having problems and it is bloody annoying. Mainly happens with RFD forums.. lol I also have IE8 and it is working way better than this program. Any tips would be much appreciated, otherwise, I may have to go back to using MS IE full time.

So you're switching from IE, to another browser which uses the IE renderer? 0.o

The fault is the RFD website, they're switching servers and are having problems.

Yep, same problem here. It seems to be a problem with RFD only for me as well. And I'm using 3.0...
