Currently on the phone... on hold with Best Buy.
Trying to PM 2 sticks of crucial 2GB DDR2 ram.
BB => $84.99
Crucial 2GB DDR2 667MHz Desktop Memory (CT25664AA667)
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10110047&logon=&langid=EN
TigerDirect => $29.99
Crucial 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3424793&sku=C19-4382
So should be $24.99 after pm.
But here's what i'm going through:
- No one can (or want to?) tell me how much they would add for next day delivery.
- CSRs keep telling me they cant find that particular memory stick on TD.ca
- I told them to enter the model (CT25664AA667), they still play dummy. I've been on hold for 20mins.
- Finaly they find it (common, dont play me).
- Then they tell me its not the same thing: "picture looks different". SO?
- They they say that 2GB != 2048MB
Hahahahaha
Un-freaking-belieavable!
So they(WorstBuy) are making me a "deal" for $43.49 a stick. Oh wait you want two... we have to add more for s/h. WTF????
And with this deal they're also not honoring the 10% difference.
Update: Even futureshop has these for $39.99. So its not much of a "deal" that they're giving me.

1. Ask to speak to a supervisor.
2. if they're giving you so many problems about the next day delivery, why not just get regular shipping?

Or if you have a local Canada Computers and don't want to deal with shipping, just get from there.

TD shipping is often cost alot more than the product itself.
Adding two of those sticks to my cart and using my work postal code (M1B3V4)
UPS Worldship CA $11.92
UPS Worldship Express $48.48
That wasn't too hard to find :P

even the 10% different is so great sometimes, i would avoid doing any PM with BB or FS, the extra cell that die inside me cost more than that 10% i have to argue with them

Who else would get 10% off the difference then?

It was BestBuy who couldn't come up with a "next day" shipping charge equivalent to charge me to make it a "fair" pricematch. I told them that TD can ship it to me for $11. Hell even if they make it $15 I'd still come down there.
The thing is WorstBuy wanted to charge me that $48.48 s/h on top of the pricematch. Which would kill the deal.
Just to clarify things. I did speak to operations manager in cust. service. And she, apparently, talked to her manager to get me the best deal they could give me for $43.xx per stick. Hell, FutureShop sells these for $39.99. And I said that. But at that point it did not matter coz they've been playing for 30mins already. I want it got PM it, grab the sticks and get the F-out. Wasting an hour on PM, is just that a waste of time.

Oh yeah they also said that are giving me hell of a deal so they wont honour the 10% difference because its an online store. I've updated the OP to reflect that.
So at the end of the day they lost a sale and a potential customer. I'm looking to buy a big screen TV too, but I guess BestBuy wont be the place I'm gonna get it at. Too bad. Hope they go the way of circuit city in US.

That's pure damn bull. They have at least 3 or 4 B&M stores all in the GTA. Their policy says nothing about excluding the 10% because it's online store. Heck I PM'd Compu2000 over in BC with 10%.
And add more shipping cause you're buying two? HA! It's not like TD ships one item per box, and those (standard) boxes are the size of phone books, actually bigger. Those figures I posted as after adding two sticks to the cart.
Geez, those cost more than my 2GB PC5300 667 MHz HyperX CL4 SODIMMS. Heck considering mine are SODIMMS and CL4 as opposed to CL5, I'd would of thought your sticks should really only cost $25-30 max. :P

Unless you have a gift card or store credit with Best Buy, why bother? You already know that their computer components are grossly overpriced.
A 2x2GB Crucial dual channel kit at ncix - $67.99 ($84.99 for one 2GB stick at BB?!)
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=35144&vpn=CT2KIT25664AA667&manufacture=CRUCIAL%20TECHNOLOGY
A 2x2GB Corsair VR dual channel kit at ncix - $59.99
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=28406&vpn=VS4GBKIT667D2&manufacture=Corsair
A 2x2GB Kingston KVR dual channel kit at ncix - $69.65
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=40003&vpn=KVR667D2N5K2%2F4G&manufacture=Kingston
A single stick of Buffalo Select 2GB PC2-6400 at ncix - $27.99
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=27708&vpn=D2U800C%2D2G%2FBR&manufacture=Buffalo&promoid=1078
Hell, I'd take any of those deals over fighting for a PM at BB any day. Even if they gave you the PM, you'd save $6+tax compared to the faster Buffalo RAM? Even the reg price on the Buffalo is still under $30, and it has lifetime warranty just like the other manufacturers.
Give your head a shake man! If you do have a GC or store credit, save it towards a bigger/better purchase you won't have to argue over.

I found these actually:
$51.99 - CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184
So I PM-ed NCIX coz they had lower s/h.
I dont care for speed as long as they're are 533 Mhz DDR2, coz they're going into an older server.
I tried to PM bestbuy just to see if it'd work. The market is practically saturated with these DDR2 things. No one in their right mind buy their memory for THAT much. I thought they wanted to move stock, I guess not. They would rather see those RAM sticks rot before they sell it for loss. Hell I don't think that $25.00 per stick is a loss to them at all. In the quantities of merchandise they buy, they still would make a nice margin. I just think that its the greedy manager.
Like hell, sell it to me for $30 a stick. I'll take it. But no, they give me a special for $43.xx... wow even FS had them for $39.99. What a f*cking scam.
BestBuy is sh*t.

I should just buy bunch of stuff from them, open it and then return it...
Let them eat those losses up.
Or would this hurt only the manufacturer?
PS. I'm only kidding. But its a nice idea...

Sure, you do that, if you think that retailers sell open-box items for less than what it costs them. Your time, obviously, is worthless, so no need to factor that into the equation.

What they mean by the next day shipping is the cost of the shipping from the other store. I.E. how much it would cost to have Tiger Direct send it to you next day. The idea behind it is that you can walk into their store and walk out with it so therefore next day shipping is a more accurate representation of pricing. Things can get a bit difficult when you are ordering online in either case.

I get it about the next-day pricing to be fair. I told them they can hold on to them for 3 days (thats how long it takes for TD to ship stuff to me). I'm not in a rush. Obviously they cant "hold" things for customers :).
What really pissed me off is while waiting for them on hold I looked at FS website. Only to find they had the same freaking thing for only $39.99 while WorstBuy's best offer was $43.xx. So after 30mins and some arguments back and forth, I was down right pissed that:
A. They would not honor their own 10% PM policy
B. Trying to charge me an "arbitrary" amount for next-day delivery. TWICE!
C. Making lame excuses that its not the same product (2GB is not 2048MB). Although this is being some dumb CSR, I suspect.
C. Purposefully putting me on hold just so that I go away (Hey, I told you what to look for and where to look for it).
D. They were down right rude to me towards the end, when I called them on their PM policy and when I told them about the FS's price. They kept cutting me off when I was trying to speak.
This was not just a CSR I was talking to towards the end, it was an "operations manager". She sure was very "professional". I hope there were customers nearby so that they could hear the way they treat customers.
And no, I did not yell at them. In a calm voice I explained to them what their own policy is and the fact that they've been simply playing me while trying not to follow their own rules.

So why didn't you just tell them to pricematch Future Shop instead? Duh.
(Now watch him say that he did try that, although he never mentioned this originally in his story ... I wonder why he didn't ;).)

1. I saw FS price much later (just was browsing FS while I was on hold
2. Coz the original post was made while I was still on the phone. I was quickly jotting whats happening down.
After I've been put on hold 4-5times and argued over double-charging for s/h.
And then I see FS price at 39.99 and they're trying to give me an "awesome deal". I called them on it. The "operation manager" became rude to me after i pretty much destroyed her credibility about the "awesome deal" she was offering. At this point I didn't really care if they would price match FS for that price or not. They were blatantly ignoring their own policies and making new ones as they went on.
They pretty much would have had to PM FS at this point, but I insisted that in lieu of such lies & deceit and, to top it all, crappy customer service they were offering me, they should save their face and PM the online store. And that I would accept that as an apology.
Needless to say the "operations manager" went on to continue to mock and interrupt me, and became evermore condescending (oh so you want to pricematch FS now?).
I'd like to see what you'd do when someone is rude to you.

Yeah, making stuff up as they go along ... seems to happen a lot ... ;)

Hmm, can't remember the last time anyone working at a store was rude to me. I guess I avoid getting into those situations. Knowing what you're talking about usually helps (eg. knowing pricematching policies).

A wise man once said: "Never argue with an idiot, coz he's gonna bring you down to his level and beat you with his experience".
So i shall follow his advice, rabbiot.
