Ok, I want to buy an item from a member on RFD, and the thing is I want it to be shipped to a Canada Post Office so that I can pick it up at the counter instead of having it delivered to my door (to avoid parents) is this possible? How would I go about doing it?

I believe the shipper can ask the person at the counter to mark that as a special request. However, the delivery person will still leave a missed delivery slip on your door though to let you know it's ready for pickup.
On the notices they leave on your door for a missed package, there's a check box there for something along the lines of "shipper requested that the item be picked up at a Canada Post outlet."

What you're looking for is called General Delivery. Contact Canada Post at service@canadapost.ca or 1-800-267-1177 for more information.

If you simply don't want your parents to find out about the delivery perhaps it may be simpler to ask a friend or neighbour to let you use their address instead.

I didn't think anyone on RFD was selling condoms. You know you can get those locally, right?

Tell the sender to have Canada post "Card for Pickup"

Your parents will know you got a package if they see the card, but won't know what it is

I remember the days where I didn't want my parents to find out I was buying stuff many many many many years ago because they didn't want me to overspend on a lot of things. My solution was to send it to a friend's house. They may thought I was a douche but hey, it beats listening to my mom ***** about it for a week.

This is why I don't deal with minors. :D

My brother once sold some computer stuff to a 16- or 17-year-old and the kid's parents found out and totally freaked out at the kid. Then they called my brother and threatened to initiate legal action, call the police, you name it. LOL. I think it was around $50 worth of stuff.

The kid returned whatever it was and my brother refunded his money. I can only assume the youngin' was grounded for the rest of his life.

Why? My mind is boggling. (Seriously - I do not have any kids nor do I recall my parents ever caring what I did with my own earned money so why would they be upset? It is computer parts, not XXX DVDs)

They'll never notice that.

Especially while he's playing it during dinner at a restaurant like I see w/ all the teenie boppers these days.

With "Card for Pickup" or "Do not Safe Drop" they've now changed it so the driver will attempt to deliver it at the house first.

I know this doesn't agree with what a number of other posters have said, but a couple of years ago I was renting an apartment and was having packages stolen. I tried calling every person I could at Canada Post to get all packages automatically held at the outlet for pickup, and everyone told me that wasn't possible.

That being said, they will hold packages addressed to "general delivery", but AFAIK this only works in towns that have only one post office. I once lived in a town so small there was no home delivery whatsoever (for any resident of the whole town). Everything had to come general delivery.

Really though, just find your driver/postie & ask them to take your stuff right to the depot. Most will be happy they don't have to make the trip out to your house anyways, lol

What is the difference between your parents receiving the box and receiving the paper informing you to pick up the box? Either way, they know you have a package.

But what if you wanted to split the 100 packs?

Maybe some parents are paranoid about giving away the home address :P

The problem is that many times the minor has used his parents' credit card or such to make the purchase.

A good friend of mine who does a lot of ebay sales has been hit by this a couple of times. Of course with ebay you have no way of knowing the age. But auction ends. Payment comes in by credit card (or paypal using a credit card, etc) and he ships out the items.

A week later the money is mysteriously removed from his paypal account. he traces it back to find out the credit card company did a reversal and paypal refunded the money. After further investigation it ended up being a kid who straight out stole his fathers' credit card and used it to make the payment.

That's why some parents freak out.

OffTopic: I was on a gardening forum recenly where someone made a side comment about a fleshlight. The original poster honestly stated that they were confused and asked what a fleshlight was. Oh boy did that thread go south fast....

LOL, I could swear the last time somebody asked the same question about Canada Post a few months back, that someone suggested the OP was buying a fleshlight
