So, I just came back from No Frills where I found the Whole Wheat pasta on sale for $0.99 for a package of 375g. The big thing is that there is a $1 coupon on the packages. I picked up 6 boxes for -$0.06. This was at Morningside and Lawrence, and I don't think they will last, the checkout girl was pretty shocked to see it on her screen and started talking to the other girls as soon as she was done with us, but my first deal posting in a few years. Thanks again RFDers!

Unfortunately in my area (oak ridges) there is no coupon on the package.

Honestly it's all about what you are used to. I think white pasta tastes bad only because I have become accustomed to the whole wheat.

You're absolutely right, it's not that good, HOWEVER, having said that, I'll tell you how I got used to it. I started my first meal and didn't really like it, so next time, I made 25% whole wheat, and 75% white, the next time, I made it about 33% whole wheat and 67% white, now I eat it 50-50. I still don't like it much, but it's a little healthier, I find it much more filling, so I eat less and it's also a little healthier. It also helps offset some of the cost difference, eating healthy is expensive!

Is the brand actually called "Whole Wheat"? Or something else? Asking because I don't recall seeing this. This is a smoking deal.
Edit: Nevermind. Silly me, forgot I was just looking at the No Frills flyer, which is next to me. It's Catelli on sale for $0.99

WW pasta is the only kind I buy for my family, it's an acquired taste my wf and I are totally used to but my kids don't know any better because I started them on it from the beginning.
Just bought some at 99c, no coupon.
How did you get them to scan the coupon on the box? Usually you have to cut it out and use it on your next visit.

It was actually a sticker on the box. I just peeled it off and gave it to the cashier. No questions asked! It was definitely a good deal...it's hard these days to be the one to find these first, so many people willing to share on this site!

I used to eat white pasta and then switched over to ww years ago. I now cringe if I go somewhere and HAVE to eat white pasta. It makes me feel like I'm eating glue. WW is much tastier and healthier :)

I have also heard about how the WW is not that tasty but that you must acquire the taste. I have several friends who switched over and they love it. I tried it, didn't care for it but did buy some more which I'm going to try to get used to as it's sooooooooo much better for you. It's like anything else, really. I like the idea of doing the mix. I'm going to try that.

white pasta will go straight to the love handles and belly. Gota limit the simple carbs, especially for the ladies as they can put weight on those areas easily

Ragu is the most horrid pasta sauce on the planet. I had a few bottles of Ragu that I took over to No Frills & dropped in the food drive box, yuck.

white pasta or whole wheat pasta. It doesn't matter which you eat. Eat whichever you like. White pasta doesn't just magically causes love handles and a belly.

Whole Wheat also helps with digestion. Make constipation a thing of the past and do it healthily to boot!

Some brands are better than others but the trick is to add extra ingredients to liven it up. I've had Ragu Original as-is and it does taste horribly bland and watery. Just cut up some tomatoes and let it stew for 10 minutes; add some oregano/basil, et al. and you'll sing a different tune. Just buy it on sale and use it as a base. The other kind that cost like $3 is good but expensive as hell for what they are which is basically the ingredients I've mentioned which can be had for pennies per serving.

Thanks OP, will check it out at my local NF tonight. I know they've been on sale for awhile, not sure if the ones at my store had coupons on them.
I like Catelli's pasta sauce in the jar too. Usually stock up on them when they're $0.99/jar.

I made homemade Mac and cheese with WW pasta, and it wasnt very good...very grainy, kind of soggy. The taste itself wasnt terrible, but the texture is what got me. I like the idea of 50% white/50% WW though, might try that some time.

Went and bought 10 tonite. At the checkout, the machine got angry at me after the 7 th and gave a E)3 error code, no idea what it is. Ended up with 3 ppl there and, i guess the most experience one kept on hitting some key and getting exasperated for a good 15+ mins. Then we decide to split the purchase and it went throught.
But the the machine says - $.06, and she goes "Oh oh.", lol; I told her to give it to the next in line,
She goes "Thank you".
What a laff.
Thx OP
btw: they have the coupons on 3 styles of pasta.

WW pasta is an "acquired taste" kind of thing. I didn't like it as much as "reg" pasta, but it grew on me to the point I now prefer it. Same thing with natural peanut butter, grew on me to where I prefer it.

I just returned from NF and saw lots of the pasta on a skid, when I read the $1.00 off coupon it was for "Grains First Crackers" not the pasta. Therefore this deal is not available at all locations. This skid of pasta not drawing any attention and when I asked the cashier about it, she wasn't familiar with another type of coupon for $1.00 off of 375 G Whole Wheat Catella Pasta.

I saw a coupon only on the penne whole wheat pasta at the Port Credit store. On the back, it says it's for egg white whole wheat pasta. Maybe if the cashier doesnt read it carefully, they will ring it in.

The $1.00 coupon that was on the pasta box has a picture of a box of Grains First Cookie, with the wording Crackers in large print so I don't see how the cashier will miss it. Also, if I were a cashier and the amount on the register came to basically $0.00, I believe I would recheck the coupon. Wouldn't you?

I mentioned this to a friend and he told me he coulf of sworn he heard on the news that some of the pasta was recalled due to some sort of issue with tainted wheat. He is seeing if he can find out the size or UPC so we can check if this is the pasta in question.

The best way to offset the taste is to mix 50% whole wheat pasta with 50% bacon fat smothered in cheese and simmered in beer. Then everything will taste just fine :cheesygri
