I went to book reward tickets for a flight to Beijing then Singapore and home for the family. I had to book two tickets using points and third I would have to pay cash (ended up close to 6k for the route for the four of us using points).

When I was done, I re-read the website and realized I should have booked all three on rewards and paid the difference in miles at 0.03 per mile (total around 3k for all of us).

After talking for a few minutes, they worked through all of the changes and made sure that no additional charges, cancellation or changes fees...everyone was very pleasant along the way.

good to hear you are happy with AC...infact for international flights they are great....and when you try to change or fix a flight like that they are willing to help no problem...it is the domestic and USA flights that they seem to have problems with...

how many points did you use then?

80,000 Aeroplan each person?

75 per person and it included the week long stop over in Beijing.

Staralliance rewards in asia are great value

First time around, we booked for 20k each, Hongkong-taipei-hongkong
2nd time, also for 20k each, hongkong - shanghai - tokyo - hongkong

For comparison sake, a 15k reward ticket can get you to Montreal from Toronto; while 25k gets you to the west coast
