I got a CARA gc from sureshkumar. He gave me the PIN # and i confirmed it on cARA website that it was $100. same day I met him and gave him $65cash.
I also asked him while picking up that why is he selling - he said that his father got it and he needs money so he is selling it.

After 2 days I went to harveys and when the Harvey's guy try to swipe the card he got an error. He called up instantly to guest services and they informed him that this card was blocked by head office as it was bought from stolen credit card.

I called sureshkumar but he neither picks up my calls nor does he reply my email.
I have made a complain to the community police station and consumer protection bureau.

Feel sorry for you....from his ID, it seems he's gonna bring a bad name to a specific community.

Hope the cops will take action and mods too, if this is true.

never buy GC's unless you are gonna use them right away, when you do the trade.

not an hour later not in two days. when you buy the item, take the GC's then.

That's true if you are buying say a Futureshop or Best Buy GC and buying something right away .

The OP was buying a CARA's $ 100 GC , & was using it in HARVEY's .

Its kind of hard to buy $ 100 worth of burgers immediately and eat them at HARVEY's at once , don't you think so ??:D

Always get the person's photo ID , Car licence plate etc when you buy a GC as they are very sketchy .

Also always meet the person at the store where you intend to buy the things .

Check the GC physically with the CSR & also all the store video cameras will pick up the person's face so record the time and place.

Lot of GC's are bought with stolen credit cards , some GC's are stolen physically from the original owners , lost by original owners and even when they are legally bought they can be reported stolen/lost afterwards by the person who actually bought them ,thereby freezing them .

You should be able to get the transaction history on the GC from the store as to when it was last used..not sure how much it will help you .

Also you can buy another GC with the existing GC to protect you a bit more . This method might not be fool proof as all the GC's will be linked . If the first GC is frozen they will probably free the second GC which was bought with the first GC as well.

Heh man, that sucks. I really try to stay away from GC because of problems like these, I hope you catch him. Any updates?
