Last night, I found out some animals has been eating my tulip bulbs. This morning. I saw a trail from the bell/rogers utility post in front yard to the tulip area. The trail is about 1 meter long, 2 inches wide, about 1 inch deep, all the grass are gone. I can clearly see the trail from the utility post leading to the tulip area.
What should I do next?:confused: (I don't know what animal digs the ground like this.)

Is it deep?

The only nocturnal animals that I know dig are either skunks or raccoons.

A few years back in my parent's backyard we had our grass dug up as well. Apparently it was because of insect eggs and larva underneath that the animals were getting at. You might want to have a closer look to see if that's the case. Also get a pest control company to have a look. Deal with the problem before it gets out of hand...

Thanks for the reply.
It's about 1/2 inch to 1 inch deep. But skunks or racoons cannot live in the utility post? The post is brown plastic, 1 meter tall, and less than 1 foot in diameter. The trail is from the bottom of the utility post to the tulip flower bed. And it's a consistent width and depth. Yes, I do have larva problems, that I plan to treat in Sept.
What worries me now is I don't know what animal is it; any suggestions on how to find that out? other than call pest control company?

Given proper zoning, skunks and raccoons can live almost anywhere.

Rabbits are pretty active at night around here. If I had a garden, I'm sure they'd cook up real tasty. :D

Not much meat on one of those. Guess I'd have to feed it to my snake. :o
