Rogers live customer support does not exist and they have not responded to my email,so here is my question.
Can I roam overseas aumatically on my rogers gsm phone?
or does roaming have to be enabled?

Thanks for your help

You might have to call in to get it activated.

It'll also cost a fortune to roam, probably around $2 CAD a minute.

you do not need to activate roaming.

If you have a gsm world phone, it will automatically pick up the local carrier.

Costs are roughly about $2 a minute

If you're staying in one country most of the time, and you don't need to have your current phone number, consider picking up a local carrier sim card when you're away. Much cheaper, when I was in Tanzania last year it cost me about 25c/min to call back home to Canada, and about 10c/txt back to Canada. It would have been about 10x as much if I used my Fido sim.

Not true, you have to have international roaming activated. Cost is ~$2 per minute depending on country though.

You need to have an unlocked phone for this to work, if you do not have an unlocked phone, any SIM card other then your carrier's will not work.
