hey man dont look for the cheapest because they might void your warranty

theres a place near 404 and steels that does it for 30 (40 lite-on drives) and they heat-peal the warranty sticker, use actual microsoft tools and just in case u get a red ring they go back to the original firmware for free and guarantee that your warranty will not be voided.

i cant remember the addy exactly ill edit this post when i find their card

I would really appreciate that romi, thanks

I found one guy, he says he can get into it and not void the warrenty but i found him on craigslist and it looks kinda shady. Not to mention he's downtown and charges the same 30$

This is probably a newb question but how do you know if you have a liteon drive and why is it more expensive? I have the arcade version of 360 from the walmart sale.

roomi's talking about gmodz (gmodz.ca), i believe.
I've been there a couple of times... they're pretty quick.

LiteOn's are more expensive b/c the method to modding them is different than other drives.

If the wire in the hole of 3 is yellow, it's a LiteOn.
White = Benq
Red = Samsung
Plastic covering = Hitachi

Don't forget www.mad-mods.ca/news.php - same storefront as gmodz :) I'm heading there tonight if they're in at 8:30 for another Wii. I've brought in 3 Wii's and 2 360's over the last year and no problems yet - all for friends and family. Definitely do not try anyone on kijiji or craigslist IMHO.

Do the guys a mad mods keep the warrenty intact without damaging the stickers or whatever.

Also, will the guys at mad modz downgrade the 360 back to factory firmware for free like gmodz does, just incase of the rrod?

Edit: so they will do it for free, but what about the stickers anyone know?

madmods and gmodz operate out of the same store and are partners. Both of us keep the seals intact and bring back to stock for free

gmodz.ca is simply the best spot to get your console modded, hands down. Very professional, efficient & friendly.

i had my first xbox done there (gmodz). No issues or problems and professional and quick...

once you learn how to do it you can do all the updates right at home and do your friends and in the long run its the cheapest.... youd be surprised on how simple it is to do these now with all the tools and tutorials online.

ixtreme 1.60 as far as i know is xbox live safe...

but remember you cant just put in games in there.... you have to make sure they are properly stealthed...

dont put in any backedup games from original xbox.... those are for sure not patched...

confirm your backedup games with abgx360... they have a pretty good online database

do the update and i suggest you get a hard drive. Some games won't be able to pay without one.

Gmodz knows best, honestly i told all my friends to get their systems modded at their place, they're professional and they know what they're doing and they do it fast on the spot within 15 minutes and they do not void your warranty

Add my recommendation for GModz. They were great to deal with, were full of info, and seemed like they could do it in their sleep! I have not had any problems with my backups.
