i am going for a second interview the coming tuesday, and i would just like to ask what department would you guys suggest i work in? i have about 2 years of retail experience at office depot (similar to staples), but the commission aspect is going to be new to me. i would like to work in a department that is a bit easier to sell extended warranties.

if i recall, there is digital audio, home theatre, cameras/camcorders, and computers available.

if it helps any, i am a tech enthusiast and read/learn about technology everyday. i am the technical kind of guy, who goes past the typical consumer and learns things like for example computer specs, different types of mp3 players, and what the specs for tvs mean.

Work in home theater if you want commission.

People are more prone to stay at home during a recession.

Communications is not bad either (Cellphones & Cameras).

Home Theatre is where the money's at - but sales are alot harder to make here than in a department like DA.... and people are more weary of buying a $500 service plan on a TV than a $49 service plan on an iPod

i see. so tv sales overall are less frequent, and theres a lower chance of including a warranty with it. but when it does happen, i get the most out of it vs the other departments.

i am guessing something like cameras is a bit more balanced? more frequent sales + cheaper warranties = more sales with warranties.

i am just accounting for the regulars stealing customers, because i have read about how hostile it can be. on the other hand, i like challenges and im definitely gonna give it all i got.

this is a tough choice.
