I know that when you move you're suppose to call every company (ie: phone, tv, internet, cable, banks, insurance, drivers license, etc...) about a change in address...

my question is, how long does it usually take for these companies to get the mailing address right because I'm afraid that when I move (btw, i have never moved before, that's why i'm asking) they might send important bills, cheques, etc to my old address and the new owner of that house would get it.. and what happens when they send it to the old address, do i just go to my old home one day and ask the new owner if there are any mails that he/she received that are mine?

also, doens't changing your drivers license, etc take time b/c they have to process it and print out a new one and send it out to your new address in like 3 weeks? how does that work?

Just get your mail forwarded to your new address for six months to allow time for the address changes to take effect. This can be done at any postal outlet, as well as online.

Here you go:
https://ssl.postescanada-canadapost.ca/smartmoves/default-e.aspx

Note however that most likeley you will need to provide SSN. Also be careful, don't do too many mistakes, it will deny access after 3 or 4 unsuccessful attempts.

This is Canada, we don't have SSNs, we have SINs and the site clearly states that providing your SIN is optional.

Yep, I meant SIN. And yeah it should be optional but it's actually not so because they use Equifax for identification and they require your SIN
