View Full Version : Sewing Machine DOD Joke = PermaBan?

I think the Sewing Machine joke in the Dell Deals of the Days threads has gone beyond necrophillia, so I'm proposing a new RFD rule. The rule sees an instant permanent ban on anyone who mentions or alludes to a sewing machine in a DOD thread.
Feel free to comment and vote.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Care to explain?

Sorry, for some reason the thread posted before I finished entering the poll.

Necrophilia isn't so bad.
Wait, what are we talking about now?

Over react much?
Like all jokes, it'll eventually simmer down.
Just look what happened with rickrolling
Of course once in a while someone will revive it, but it won't live for too long.
Besides, if there is a hot deal on a sewing machine, then let it be, especially if it comes from dell

I remembered a time when you couldn't go 2 clicks on the internet without running into a All Your Base Are Belong To Us or some variation of it.

For those who are as clueless about this Sewing Machine DOD joke as I was, click here (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448733). And for other explanations/threads, click here (http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&cr=countryCA&q=+site:www.redflagdeals.com+DOD+Sewing+Machine+Jo ke).
Edit: As for OP's reference to necrophilia, I think he's trying to say that the joke is so old that it is dead. It is the OP's view, IMO, those who persist in posting Sewing Machine DOD joke references are guilty of humour necrophilia - an exceptional love for jokes that have long ceased being funny (dead jokes, if you will).

Hahahaha thank you. I was thinking either OP doesn't know what necrophilia is, or that thread got reaaaaal ugly.
Turns out OP does know what necrophilia is and I've just never heard of it in this form before. :)

Why is the OP so angry about it? Obviously he/she has issues.
Its friday. Go out and do something instead of posting on RFD ranting about a joke that nobody gives a damn about

*sigh* for all you who are still confused, to sum it up:
During one of the Dell Day of Deals promotions, it had a Creative Branded Webcamera that was masked as a black shadow. Everyone liked to speculate what the deals were, and one of the very farfetched guess was a "sewing machine".
http://i.dell.com/images/ca/segments/gen/billboards/dod_expire_en.jpg
What the heck is the second thing? It looks like a sewing machine or something...
Where the actual product is:

So now everytime there is a Dell promotion, someone posts some sort of comment inquiring/suggesting/hoping for a sewing machine........
which OP thinks is now just totally not funny.
And I agree, because it's just cluttering up the threads with useless posts.

i) Not angry, just a strange sense of humour (I've got a great chuckle out of the responses to my thread.)
ii) I was stuck at work, feeling ill, and looking for some funny.

Good point, unfortunately I don't know how to edit a poll.

Without sewing machine and does it hot, the DOD thread is incomplete..

That's the first time I've ever posted one of those pics. Personally, I hate the cat pictures, or ships that say "I like where this thread is going" images, but I felt that given the subject of this thread, it was appropos.
I'll also add I B T L :D

OP, you're just feeding it.
Likely your right, but like I said earlier, I was just looking for a laugh while sick at work. If it helps at all it did help me feel better... that and 1/4 bottle of Advil.

It's sorta funny like the old, "wreckem, damm near killed em" line. I guess you had to be there.

It's old and tired. I wish that the immature kids would stop doing it but banning is a bit much.
It's like looking at the comments for the Failblog.org videos on YouTube where the kids keep posting "Did he/she die?" on every frickin' video.

I think anyone with less than 10,000 postings should be taking about who to ban. :o

If people with less than 10,000 postings aren't qualified to talk about who to ban then a lot of mods are in trouble since most RFD moderators have less than 10,000 posts. :D

Seeing it in every DoD annoys me too. It's so repetitive it's not even funny anymore.

Gee, did I missed this again. Funny or not- someone must think so, to put the effort in mentioning the sale...Still, just curious if it was just an impulse to buy, kidding..
