After speaking to some "paint experts" we have decided to paint with Benjamin Moore Classic Collection paints. (We were told the Aura and Natura do not go on as well0 due to the water based nature of their collection.... dries too fast to make it workable)
Anyway, now I want to know how much this paint usually goes for? Who has it for the best price?
We are painting a living room, dining room, small TV room, sm office area, powder room and a kids playroom.
One store I spoke with said they would give me contractor pricing, but I don't know what contractor pricing is. I don't want to go down there, have him tell me its "contractor pricing" when its just normal pricing anyway...
What does a gallon usually go for, and how much of a discount would contractors normally get on their paint....
I read in a seperate post that BM paints are 20% off at Rona this weekend, so wondering if I should just go buy what I need there and enjoy the AirMiles, or wait to see what this guy gives me on Monday.
Really, really appreciate hearing back.

I believe Collections is normally around $45/gallon. Contractor pricing is about $5 off (not a huge amount, but it adds up if you need a lot of paint).
As for Aura or Natura, it does apply differently than Collections, but if you understand that it dries quickly and don't keep going over the same spot it is very nice. I used Aura and EcoSpec (also 0 VOC but cheaper than Natura). EcoSpec is my new favourite paint. Aura was very nice, but is pricey. Collections is also very nice, but EcoSpec smells less, dries quickly allowing you to do 2 coats almost without a break for it to dry.

My dad gets them for $31 after tax. But he only gets this price AT ONE STORE so he has to go there to buy all his paint.

I checked Rona's website and couldn't find anything more on this, can anyone please confirm on Benjamin Moore?

Is this the Collections line? If so I'm getting a little ripped. When I first move into my house I needed 20-25 gallons and negotiated contractor pricing. It was around $40/gallon. This was 2 years ago so it may have increased by a couple dollars.

2 years later, I think with inflation $40 is probably about right and wouldn't worry too much about it. If you're like me and only need 1 lousy gallon to do yearly outside trim touch up, try $50.

Thanks everyone.
The post about BM Classic being on sale at Rona is found in the thread "Is Wal Mart paint any good?" (I don't know how to link threads)
The poster's last line is as follows:
Some Rona stores (ones that were previously Lansing stores) have a sale on this weekend for 20% off their Collection series paints. Great deal IMHO.
Have a great weekend

I'll have to find out if it's the Collection line or not. But I know I only pay $31 for the paint. I think I paid like $60 or Aura line.

Looking to use the EcoSpec line of paint from BM. Any one know if they sell this product in Rona? or if any one know what kind of prices I should expect for the EcoSpec paint per can / gallon?
thanks in advance!
