When/If you worked part-time or summer jobs (NOT related to your field of study i.e. co-op etc) during university, would you say you retained any valuable skill? Other than the money, do you think it was a valuable experience?

Yes, I learned customer service, sales, diplomacy, cash handling, office politics, etc plus much more, all of which are relevant and enrich my life experience. Some of the things I learned actually could be very well transferrable to my future career in marketing.

any work experience is considered valuable to a lot of employers. doesnt matter what area it's related to. it could be working for mcdonalds, anything.

It's not about what's "considered" valuable.. I'm asking if YOU think it helped you in any way

helped me in what way? to grow and develop as an individual? or to snag a full time job post-grad?
for me i didnt work at all until university 2nd year, so my first part-time job was definitely an eye-opener for someone like me. you learn to interact as a service provider with customers - you get to be on the other side of the counter. it's different.
i learned how to communicate, to take responsibility of large amounts of cash (i was a bank teller).. i grew as an individual. not saying it was a life-changing experience, but i find that experience over time just.. changes you.
and it definitely helped in my resume since i actually had something to write about. helped me get in for the first interview, i think.
